daniel gailloux Posted September 13, 2010 Posted September 13, 2010 Hello All I have been working on my Mack truck. Getting it prepared for the Mega City model contest in Toronto, Ontario, Canada on Sept 26. I have not updated this project in a while. I now have a Laser printer (getting in the 21st century) in black only, so yesterday I printed some decals on laser paper I got Monday for my Mack truck. Most of what is left to do is the interior of the living quarters. I have made resin cast copies of the kitchen appliances from the reissued MPC camper. The polar bear and bear footprints is are clip art I got on the NET. I took 12 new pictures this afternoon and added them to my photobucket account. To see all the photos of this model truck here is the link to my photobucket account: Alaska Lab truck Thank you for looking at my project. Best regards Daniel Gailloux
The Modeling Hermit Posted September 13, 2010 Posted September 13, 2010 What a reminder that winter is coming. I'm glad that I don't live on the mainland where it gets COLD. That is a very clean build and quite well executed. Good luck at the contest.
codie27 Posted September 13, 2010 Posted September 13, 2010 That is brilliant, can see a lot of work has gone into building this. The kitchen area looks great. Very nice truck.

Turned out good my scratchbuild poject like I had not done in a real long time. I am enjoying it very much. Not looking at getting the top prize but want to participate in the show with a new project. Thank you for the compliments. Best regards Daniel Gailloux
daniel gailloux Posted September 14, 2010 Author Posted September 14, 2010 You know..........it would have looked better in white Super job Hello Clayton No I do not like white paint. First getting the color even all the time is a big job. The surfaces gets dirty with handling with my hands. A large proportion of my models are painted with Testors and Model Master model paints and I am having problems getting the white paint to adhere to the styrene surface. It chips a lot and I do not know why. It does not do this with colored paint go figure. Thank you for the compliments. Daniel Gailloux

daniel gailloux Posted September 14, 2010 Author Posted September 14, 2010 Outstanding, Daniel! I like the way you built it. Ispecially the kitchen. How have you made the sink? Hello Sergey The kitchen sink as well as the oven, range , overhead oven fan, propane gas heating system, refrigerator are resin copies from the MPC recently reissued Camper by Model King. Let me know if you have any more questions. Thank you for the interest in my project. Best regards Daniel Gailloux
Old Albion Posted September 14, 2010 Posted September 14, 2010 Daniel, This is something very different from the type of vehicles we are used to seeing on the forum. I never seen anything like this before. Judging by the size of the DM kit it must be quite a size. Mind if its messing with Polar Bears it needs to be able to take care of itself. Great truck! Dave
David G. Posted October 6, 2010 Posted October 6, 2010 You've come up with a very unique concept and executed it very well. Is it based on a real prototype?
daniel gailloux Posted October 7, 2010 Author Posted October 7, 2010 You've come up with a very unique concept and executed it very well. Is it based on a real prototype? Hello David Thank you for the compliments. No it is not based on any real truck. This project is straight from my imagination. Actually you can do anything with trucks as long that all you are doing is logical. I approched the build of this truck as a whole lot of small models mounted on a truck frame. This is an ad lib built. I did not plan anything trough out this project. However I did plan the interior of the living quarters as I had to plan the cut out of the walls for the windows. Being a small living quarters I had to make sure all would fit. I am having real fun building this truck and putting all these hours does not feel like a chore.

Dave Hello Dave Yes it is a big project. Overall lenght is 25 inches that makes it 100 foot long in real life. Even for me it is a very different project. I got to use all my building talent to pull this off. I got to try new materials, new ideas and solve problems building such a truck. It will take quite a while before I tackle such a big project. Thank you for the compliments. Daniel Gailloux
