Fisher61 Posted September 21, 2010 Posted September 21, 2010 I've been kind of lazy lately and needed something easy to do and maybe it would get me motivated again! I bought this cheap at Michaels with a 50% off coupon beings they didn't really have anything else I needed on the shelf. It's a very low parts count snap kit, but has one of the best looking bodies and interior out of the bunch, so I thought I'd throw a little foil and paint detail at it. I polished the red plastic body, painted the interior red and paint detailed the one piece molded detail chassis. I added turn signal and gear shift stalks to the column, parts box rear view mirror. Thanks for looking !
plasticfrog Posted September 21, 2010 Posted September 21, 2010 Looks AWESOME!! love how you did the chassis..are you using the rims in it too?
Fisher61 Posted September 21, 2010 Author Posted September 21, 2010 Looks AWESOME!! love how you did the chassis..are you using the rims in it too? Thanks Jason. I swapped the wheels with an older issue that had the wide whitwalls and stock hubcaps.
Scale-Master Posted September 21, 2010 Posted September 21, 2010 Your detailing has brought it to life. I built one of those too, except for the sink marks in the body it was a blast to build. I took the easy way on mine, looks like you invested a bit more, nice work.
charlie8575 Posted September 21, 2010 Posted September 21, 2010 That really does look good. Nice work. Charlie Larkin
Modlbldr Posted September 21, 2010 Posted September 21, 2010 That Chevy is looking great. What did you use to polish the body? I am rebuilding a 1/8 32 Ford roadster that my cousin built years ago. Doing it for him. I will have to polish the body too instead of painting. Are you interested in trading off those wheels and tires from your 57 kit? I'd like to get a set of them. Later-

I just used some 3M polish followed by some Turtle Wax, nothing to aggressive. Sorry, I've already put the wheels to use, I swapped them with an older build snap '57 that's black, It's going to be disassembled and get the same treatment as this one. Those wheels look great on a black car.
Modlbldr Posted September 21, 2010 Posted September 21, 2010 Thanks for the reply. I've got some Tamiya Fine and Finish polish that I'm going to try. I'll probably end up using all of both tubes since it's that HUGE 1/8 scale. Those wheels look really good on 60's Fords too, like the 65-67 Galaxies. Later-
