exesivefire Posted September 24, 2010 Posted September 24, 2010 (edited) Hey guys, Was really into building in my mid teens (a good decade ago) and life steered me in a different direction for a while. Recently decided to pick it back up, and start with what was supposed to be a quick easy build, we will see if I can keep it that way. Quickly realized I would have to Z the frame to get a stance I liked Initial mock-up with full height cab, stock bed floor, and bob'd bed. Using a front axle from a Revell 32 Ford to get the stance lower in the front Mock-up after chopping the top, and raising the bed floor. Pulled a SBC from a revell 69 Nova, mounted with new mounts and a trans cross member. primer on the cab and bed, made a new smooth bed floor, and modified and installed the front visor and a recessed firewall. Wheels and tires are from the Revell 29 kit. You can also see a hint at the colors to come. Still have some minor finish work to do before paint, need to sort out the interior as well. That's all for now. Edited October 14, 2010 by exesivefire
highway Posted September 24, 2010 Posted September 24, 2010 Recently decided to pick it back up, and start with what was supposed to be a quick easy build, we will see if I can keep it that way. Welcome back to the hobby and welcome to the forum. Nice work so far, I can't wait to see how it turns out. All I can say though is if chopping the roof, "Z"ing the frame and bobbing the bed is your idea of a quick easy build, I'd hate to see what your idea of a hard build would be!
LAone Posted September 24, 2010 Posted September 24, 2010 looking good bud. loke where this is going.

exesivefire Posted September 25, 2010 Author Posted September 25, 2010 (edited) thanks for the kind words guys, MikeMc, at least I know my color choice will look good This is the Lindburg 34 ford kit for those who asked. I do tend to go a little overboard I guess, this was a little more than I originally planned, but I think we can keep it "simple" Did a little work to the engine today, installed the intake and accessories, wired up the plug wires, and made a set of headers out of .080 rod and 1/8th inch tube. Harry P. Posted September 25, 2010 Posted September 25, 2010 Nice work... Now use a small brush to paint the header flanges (molded onto the cylinder heads) to match the headers for a much more realistic look...

BigEdsGarage Posted October 1, 2010 Posted October 1, 2010 I was in a similar situation and after many years of being away from it I have started to enjoy the hobby again. I think you are going to find you will probably enjoy it more now that you are older. The truck looks very cool so far. Great job on all the work done so far. Is that the Lindberg kit suspension?

Is that the Lindberg kit suspension? the front is from a revell 32 kit, the rear is the lindburg, but I had to shorten the driveshaft and wishbone to fit the engine/ trans I chose
