I went to refill my purple pond with Super Clean. When I opened it I wasn't really paying attention to it and looked away. When I looked back this thick looking stuff was coming out. Apparently that wasn't Super Clean, it was used motor oil. So now I have to get more Super Clean to get paint plus oil off a model body.

Don't feel bad Clay, I once topped off a chain saw with really old nasty Av Gas from a can thinking it was a 40:1 2 stroke mix......should have been able to tell by the odor but stupidity prevailed........I now label my fuel cans.

By the way, the chain saw ran like gang busters before melt down. :(

Sorry to hear of your challenge.. you can look at it as a victim or a student - look ay it as a victim and cry or look at it as a student and ask yourself how you can prevent such a thing from happening again. We all make mistakes - don't sweat it.. learn from it, and get on with your day! :(:)

Clay, I can relate to that in away man.. back around 5 years I was working on a 3rd gen charger model. I had been using clear coat and doing mist's over the body, well I set it down and without looking I reach back down to pick the can back up. I did so I thought..... well when I went to lay down another layer of clear coat after checking the body out I layed down a nice gold color by mistake. I had the gold color setting next to the clear can and I had grabbed the wrong can due to me not looking downand checking the cans out :) . Now I look at the cans

I miss Twentynine Palms for one reason. They had a household hazmat pick up along with recycling so I wouldn't make that mistake.

so - if super clean will remove oil & there was oil in the container - there must have been no super clean, because if there was, there would have been no oil in there, right?

You just made my brain hurt :lol::lol: .

On the plus side... Purple Power IS a degreaser, when you actually do fill your container with it :P stripping the paint AND oil shouldn't be a problem! :);)

Not nearly as bad as the time I started pouring oil into my car engine... then realizing I had not reinstalled the oil drain plug!

I was at a friends house and he was getting ready to spray carb cleaner on the carb to his 85' Ramcharger when he accidentally grabbed a can of white paint without looking at it and started spraying on the carb turning it white.

I once grabbed what I thought was a jug of Prestone to fill the radiator, I didn't look at the labeling on the jug, started filling the radiator with etching acid. About 8 ounces went in before I realized what was in the jug. Emptied out the radiator flushed it and put coolant in. Never had any adverse reactions.

What I did a long time ago was changed the oil in my Nissan, and filled the EMPTY Super Clean jug with the used oil. I forgot and thought I had a jug of it, but I didn't B)

I can't help, but I have to ask this, how did you remember? B)

I know how you feel on issues like that, I reused jugs before also and filled them with other stuff and the ones you can't see through will get you at times.
