gray07 Posted October 29, 2010 Posted October 29, 2010 (edited) This is what our truck looked like after the demo we ran. we are getting ready to pull engine out in this picture Edited October 29, 2010 by gray07
plastic trucker Posted September 9, 2011 Posted September 9, 2011 What a waste of a good Chevy. I could of used the drivers door.
tooltas Posted September 13, 2011 Posted September 13, 2011 why a chevy a good ford is a good junk for a demo lol not 78 to 79 tho
gray07 Posted September 13, 2011 Author Posted September 13, 2011 This truck was very rust, thats the reason we ran it, iam surprised no one noticed the bed, its a bed off a 69-72 chevy we bolted on it.
Chuck Most Posted September 13, 2011 Posted September 13, 2011 I really can't imagine how anybody could get so worked up about it. These things are a dime a dozen! Need a door? There are about fifteen of these things at my local junkyard!
Dr. Cranky Posted September 15, 2011 Posted September 15, 2011 Wow, those are great reference shots. To recreate such damage you'd have to form (and deform) the panels made out of aluminum foil or very thin metal . . . that would be very cool to replicate. LONG LIVE RUST.
Nick Notarangelo Posted September 19, 2011 Posted September 19, 2011 couple coats of paint and that will buff right out.
mistermodel Posted September 24, 2011 Posted September 24, 2011 good pics, looks like fun .Demo cars would be a great modeling subject Good... Chevy???? I really can't imagine how anybody could get so worked up about it. These things are a dime a dozen! Need a door? There are about fifteen of these things at my local junkyard! like a rock.......laying in a field motionless I think Chuck called a code blue cause the heartbeat has stoped
bandit1 Posted September 24, 2011 Posted September 24, 2011 good pics, looks like fun .Demo cars would be a great modeling subject like a rock.......laying in a field motionless I think Chuck called a code blue cause the heartbeat has stoped listen to a little Bob Seger and you will change what your saying!
Terror Posted September 24, 2011 Posted September 24, 2011 If you boil it it can be straightened. Why the cans on the pipes you plan on driving it again?
gray07 Posted September 26, 2011 Author Posted September 26, 2011 We put the cans on to save engine, the engine was put in another chevy truck for this year.
Chuck Most Posted September 26, 2011 Posted September 26, 2011 listen to a little Bob Seger and you will change what your saying! Yep, like a rock. As Kevin put it, laying in a field motionless....
ARTEMIS1759 Posted November 5, 2011 Posted November 5, 2011 I noticed the bed. Saw an 81 here the other day with a closed 67-72 tail gate. I knew the chassis were the same on 4x4s but never thought that would work.
CorvairJim Posted February 15, 2012 Posted February 15, 2012 Hey Chuck: It would be hard to find any Ford pickups of this vintage for demo derby use because they all rusted away to nothing back in the 1990's! And if you did happen to come across one of 'em, it would fold right up anyhow, as badly weakened as it would be by now... That is, if the engine would hold out long enough for it to make it onto the grid! This bad boy ran off the field under it's own power and it's engine is gonna be reused. You say the Chevy is "ON the field, motionless", but that Ford would have halfway dissolved INTO the field by now!

Lol
promo55 Posted February 16, 2012 Posted February 16, 2012 You put the engine in another Chevy truck, enough said! I like all trucks, but the G.M. trucks are my favorite. The only BIG thing I got against the Fords is that crummy "Twin-I-Beam" front axle. They won't stay in alignment and few people are willing to work on them!
Dingo5162 Posted March 15, 2012 Posted March 15, 2012 The best thing to happen to anything wearing the Bowtie emblem, that's all they're good for demo vehicles smash the heck out of them to make 'em drive right. Dingo
