slant6 Posted October 31, 2010 Posted October 31, 2010 This is one of my all time favorite cars. But being me I'd never leave any of my favorite cars (or any of my cars for that matter) factory stock. So, I decided to attempt some custom work. I got a Flat head V12 for the power plant. An Amp, some subs, and of course NOS This is the "Donks" kit from Revell, so It has different suspensions, I'm using the stock in front and raised in the back, both with the larger wheels Cut out some T-tops and cut opened the trunk Made a custom cowl for the hood I'm not sure how many picture will fit in one post, so I'll continue it in the next.
slant6 Posted October 31, 2010 Author Posted October 31, 2010 (edited) On the interior, I built a sub box in the trunk and covered the floor. Removed the back seat and put in an opening to view the subs through, and a space to mount the NOS tanks on One with the glass in I found some nice exhaust tips in a parts box, and used some solder to make straight pipes I had to move the engine mounts to fit the V12, and I ran the spark plugs complete with spark plug boots cut from some scrap wire insulation. Thanks for looking, and thanks for all that the members here have helped me so much. Edited October 31, 2010 by slant6
slant6 Posted October 31, 2010 Author Posted October 31, 2010 sweeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeet Thank You! I Hope it ends as sweet as its starting! I'm doing a lot of new stuff here
Foxer Posted October 31, 2010 Posted October 31, 2010 (edited) I like what you're doing here, especially The Parts Box engine. This type of vehicle isn't one of my usual interests, but you've made it fascinating and I'll be back to check on it! Edited October 31, 2010 by Foxer
Corvette.Jeff Posted October 31, 2010 Posted October 31, 2010 i bet that v12 is in a tight spot in that engine bay!!!
slant6 Posted October 31, 2010 Author Posted October 31, 2010 i bet that v12 is in a tight spot in that engine bay!!! Barely fits, I think Im going to have to do something to the firewall.
Hornistfuller Posted October 31, 2010 Posted October 31, 2010 hahaha way to be using an engine from a 1946 lincoln in a car from 1987... in other words.... thats imagination... i would have never thoight to put one of those in a buick.... which is btw one of my favorite cars of all time.
ChrisPflug Posted October 31, 2010 Posted October 31, 2010 Interesting in scale- wouldn't think nitrous would work too well with the restricted breathing of a 1930's flathead
slant6 Posted November 1, 2010 Author Posted November 1, 2010 Interesting in scale- wouldn't think nitrous would work too well with the restricted breathing of a 1930's flathead Ill just have to make it work. Wouldn't be right without it.
slant6 Posted November 6, 2010 Author Posted November 6, 2010 A little update. You couldn't really see through the glass too well, so I put a red LED inside. My camera batteries died though, so no picture with the light on yet. And the battery and resistor hide up in front of the radiator.
slant6 Posted November 9, 2010 Author Posted November 9, 2010 I thought I did this last night, guess I forgot to save it or something, so, Ill try again. Just one more pic for today, one with the light in the sub box on. Thanks for looking.
slant6 Posted November 23, 2010 Author Posted November 23, 2010 I'm gonna post an update even though nobody seems to be interested. Almost finished.
moparmadness Posted November 23, 2010 Posted November 23, 2010 love all the detail where did you get your nos bottles
slant6 Posted November 23, 2010 Author Posted November 23, 2010 love all the detail where did you get your nos bottles Thank you! I got them and the other parts from thepartsbox.com Im pretty sure Im going to leave them out and use them on something else though.
crazyjim Posted November 23, 2010 Posted November 23, 2010 Looking pretty good, Will. I'll keep watching this build.
mikemodeler Posted November 23, 2010 Posted November 23, 2010 coming along nicely, great details and definitely unique with that engine! any ideas of what color you are going to paint it?
davyou5 Posted November 23, 2010 Posted November 23, 2010 Were did you get the parts for the LED lights? or are you using a pre made system? btw you Have an Excellent Build going there.
W-409 Posted November 24, 2010 Posted November 24, 2010 I have been watching this project, it looks very good. Don't like the wheels and tires, but that engine detailing looks very good. All work with the trunk also has not gone waste! Good job with it, can't wait to see it finished.
slant6 Posted November 24, 2010 Author Posted November 24, 2010 coming along nicely, great details and definitely unique with that engine! any ideas of what color you are going to paint it? It is painted, its Model Master Gunmetal. It didnt come out quite the way I had envisioned, but I think once it all comes together it'll look pretty nice.

The LED is just leftover from a remote starter at work, the battery is out of one of the remotes. There is a momentary micro switch mounted under the car
Jantrix Posted November 24, 2010 Posted November 24, 2010 A few years back I'd asked some folks on a forum (SA I think) if anyone had ever taken a newer vehicle and made a REAL retro. Add a flattie, wide whites, dummy spots etc. Everyone puts new tech in old cars, why not the reverse? The responce, was near unanimous. They all thought I was nuts. Thought you aughta know.
flamefink Posted November 24, 2010 Posted November 24, 2010 Interesting build. its a nice mix of old and new. I've always liked this gen Buick and its about time someone did something different to one. Jantrix, the ironic part about that is SA photographed a New Beetle that I did exactly that to. I took the Revell kit and added louvers to the trunk lid, sunk a moon tank into the front bumper, put wide whites and cheater slicks on five spoke mags, huge exhaust tips out back and finished it off in flat black with red and white interior.

As much as we hate to admit it, the technilogical advances of the last 70 years are real- as in the 1:1 world not many are willing to perform extensive modifications to make their vehicle slower, take a longer distance to stop, handle worse, and generally be less safe or comfortable One of the main goals of hot rodders has been to increase performance
