Nice work, Chris. The military jeep kit that was released a while back had a 40's to 50's looking round mirror in the box, it was chrome too.

Nice job. I like your engine detail, and the color is really nice, too. What sort of mirrors are you looking for?

My favorite Pickup of all time. Looking for a 1:1 5 window with an 8 foot box. Looks good. I have a Texaco tow truck thread on here with the same advanced series truck as this. What did you use for the details on the engine? Was looking to wire it and all. Mrton, not sure how to remove the paint but more trucks in this style came painted with factory paint grille with a cream color on the inner pieces. (in case it don't work for ya.) I never noticed, does this truck not come with mirrors? Looks like other builds on the forum don't have them either.

Not to be a spoil-sport, but they never made the Advance Desgn trucks with a 8 foot box. The closest would be the 3604 3/4 ton, which has a 7 1/2 foot box, or the 3804 1 ton, which is a 9 foot box. The 8 foot box wasn't available until midyear '57 on the 3234 (1/2 ton), 3634 (3/4 ton), and 3684 (3/4 ton 4x4).

However, if you are looking for a 1:1 AD truck, here's a good place to check. (apologies if this against forum rules)http://www.stovebolt.com/ubbthreads/ubbthreads.php?ubb=postlist&Board=14&page=1

Lol it's all good. I guess I never checked the exact box length. Just new it was close. I also noticed on this model that it has vent windows and lever door handles. The door handles are correct for 50 but not the vent windows. I am part of that board. Been a while. Need to start actively lookin for a project other then the 65 REO truck.

I've been a member there since '06. I've become one of the "Go To Guys" when someone asks about a '55-'59 Task Force (my main area of expertise) , serial number decoding, or help with the old 3 speed overdrives.

I was just looking the kit over, there's no vent windows in the kit. However, i did spot that the box art does have them. Minor error on the part of the artist.

Nice pickup! The color is perfect. I remember seeing many old Chevy trucks like that around here when I was a kid, and they always seemed to be dark green - and dirty. Farmers used them hard! Very nice model.

There's actually a reason that you see so many of them in that particular shade of green, it was the standard color for Chevrolet trucks from '47 to at least the late '70s. The color went by several names over the years, Juniper Green, Forester Green, and Holly Green are a few examples. Other colors were available as a no cost RPO (single colors only).
