TDR "unleashes a beast" the TDR Roadster

Recommended Posts

As many of you know TDR has been working some long headscratching hours to bring you our first multi-media kit......

It's the TDR Roadster!

We've asked Sydney Deem to build a prototype along with TDR's Tim for photos and to work out any remaining gremlins so that we can make running changes if needed.

This way we will be able to provide you with the best kit we possibly can.

The kit will be as complete as we can make it. Bumper to bumper, things like a real wood steering wheel, pre-cut aluminum interior panels, material for carpeting, all the suspension pieces, wheels, tires and as many other goodies as we can produce will be included in the complete kit.

Tons of time, effort & coins have gone into producing this kit....we are doing everything we can to keep the cost to you as low as possible and will even offer the kit in stages so you can purchase one assembly at a time as your budget and build time allows.

The engine will be a 427 side oiler.....thanks to Tony (another TDR partner).

Tim did the chassis & all the suspension work so you know it's top notch as well.

Once the body had cleared Tim's keyboard it was done in RP. It then went to the old master the "Madd Fabricator" for assembly and many hours of fine tuning and finishing. Anyhow...here's a few pics of his master for you to run your orbs over.....M.F. now faces the task of making the multi piece molds as the body will be hand laid up in fiberglass which has untold advantages over resin for a body this size.

Watch this thread for Syd's build up of the prototype and more information on the kit as it progress.....you'll get a first hand look at what goes on behind the scenes at TDR.

As always, your input, comments and questions are not only welcomed but encouraged.

Can't tell you exactly just yet Harry.....the bean counters are working on the final tally and structuring a payment plan for sub assemblies. You thinking 'bout building building one?

Any new large-scale product gets my attention...

Of course, price will be a factor.

In reply to Don's " UNLEASHES the BEAST" posting, rest assured that the "BEAST" is in reference, only in the fact that this kit will definitely turn lose those untamed builders who like a challenge of the hunt, ( build in this case). The product is and will always be offically known as the "TDR Roadster" and will be marketed , as will any components associated with it, by it's official title. Hope this clears up any misunderstanding that the group had.

The buck looks awesome. Knowing your quality, I assume there's going to be a lot more work to get the panel lines on doors, hood, trunk smoother.

No, the MF has spent many hours sanding and reworking this body until it is baby butt smooth. So, as with all of MF bodies, the only outer finishing that is necessary is on par with that of an injection molded plastic body.

This body is going to have a couple of options for the modeler. You will be able to buy the hood with or without a hood scoop and the modeler has the option of removing the rear wheel flares.

Once we come out with the SC optional parts, the modeler will have the option of drilling out the body and inserting a pre-made Lemans filler cap pocket to prep the body for the massive Lemans cap.

Nice butcan me aford (LOL) it? :(

We are going to offer this kit in a very special way. Because of the unique way our parts are built, we are able to offer the entire kit in multiple "Sub-kits". What I mean by this is that today you can buy the body.........3 months from now you can buy the interior aluminum kit..........in another 3 months you can buy the tires and wheels...........and so on and so on..... That way you do not have to come up with all the coin all at once. You can "grow" into the kit as funds become available.

  • 2 years later...

Yes Mike, it is however an expensive kit - but can be ordered in stages.......in other words the first stage would allow the builder to purchase that section of the car and complete it before purchasing next section to avoid a large initial cash outlay.

Some builders just want the fiberglass body.......others just a naked chassis, internal sheet metal & engine for display (not wanting to hide all the detail with a body).

Contact Tim at TDR Innovations if you need more info.
