First off this is not about anybody except my boyfriend, ok now the question, my boyfriend builds models he loves it, he wires them, puts brake lines on, just trys to make the model to look real, so i asked him why do you do all that work on wiring , making sure you have overspray on the frame and floor but you dont put the obvious thing on the model, and thats a valve stem and he says nobody does, so my question is, because i dont do it eather, lol, i want to start putting them on my models, to prove a point to him. What could i use for a valve stem, anybody got an idea, thank you

I have been using the black battery cable from PRESTON'S CAR PARTS and I use a #64 drill bit for the hole in the wheel. I also use Preston's pre-wired distributors on most of my engines.

I usually just drill a small hole and use a short piece of metal wire- maybe a dab of acrylic paint

(Looks better in "real life"- digital photos are brutally honest ;) )

I always do valve stems using either stretched black sprue or if I want to be fancy flexible electronic solder for that chrome cap look.

..you could also try the little "nubbuals"(not sure what their called) that real tires have on them when there new. They come in a variety of sizes too, looks pretty convincing if you get the right size........

Black wire for stock wheels, and either black or bare metal wire for cutom/mag wheels. Alwys check your references first.

I'll second this. A good friend in AL showed me this little trick, been doing it for years. They are the correct color and material, and have a rounded end. And if you want, you can even add a touch of clear or gloss black to the tip to simulate the cap.
