Clay Posted December 14, 2010 Posted December 14, 2010 (edited) Found this one while cleaning up the garage on this cold day. Painted the interior a fabric tan, not sure what to paint the body yet. Added some 23 chrome T's Edited December 16, 2010 by Clay
Blake Rogers Posted December 14, 2010 Posted December 14, 2010 nice Clay i would go with a met green or red
cazxr2 Posted December 14, 2010 Posted December 14, 2010 I say go two tone. Mica red and moondust silver. With a purple pin stripe.
Hoosierfarmboy Posted December 14, 2010 Posted December 14, 2010 I like the wheels a lot. I've commented before about using the larger wheels on older gen vehicles. I'm a big fan of the old Torq Thrust in the dark colors. However they don't go well on some vehicles. Anxious to see finished product.
LAone Posted December 14, 2010 Posted December 14, 2010 nice stud, wish i could find something like that while cleaning my garage.. i like where this is going.
Clay Posted December 15, 2010 Author Posted December 15, 2010 I got a silver base coat down. I may go with Black pearl. plan on BMFing the emblems. Ok, got the letters BMF'd and the first light coat of black pearl. Going to take my time do many light coats, going to wet sand and clear. Trying for my best paint job yet. Wish me luck!!
Dr. Cranky Posted December 15, 2010 Posted December 15, 2010 I like where it is headed. Nice body too!
W-409 Posted December 15, 2010 Posted December 15, 2010 That's very nice body, I think. But those wheels really doesn't fit to my eye. It's going to be very nice car anyways, I mean that it doesn't matter, are you using those wheels or normal size wheels. Can't wait to see more.
Clay Posted December 15, 2010 Author Posted December 15, 2010 Ok guys, all I need to do is put a clear coat on it. The color is HoK Black Pearl. I wish I could find some more of this paint.
Peter Lombardo Posted December 15, 2010 Posted December 15, 2010 Clay, I like this one alot. I always liked the Lark in this body style....I really like the large grille opening. The color works great on it. Tamiya makes a metallic Black that is kinda close to this color....not a "touch up" match, but similar for a different build.
Clay Posted December 15, 2010 Author Posted December 15, 2010 I am thinking of going 2 tone, silver. Not sure if I want to go top or bottom, what you guys think?
Dr. Cranky Posted December 15, 2010 Posted December 15, 2010 I like the color too. Yeah, HOK is nice paint to work with.
Clay Posted December 16, 2010 Author Posted December 16, 2010 Went ahead and went with the 2 tone. I really hope it comes out good. I will work more on it later on today. Sorry about that last picture. It looked better on the camera.
Clay Posted December 16, 2010 Author Posted December 16, 2010 Ok, I just couldnt wait any longer. These show the BMF through the paint. What I did was applied it before painting and when all coats were applied I gently sanded the areas to get to the BMF Rear. Side.
John Teresi Posted December 16, 2010 Posted December 16, 2010 Clay......I have been following this build......and I really like it!!!!......the two- tone paint job look`s great......everything flows together nice.
Clay Posted December 16, 2010 Author Posted December 16, 2010 Thanks John, the paint is over all good. There are some spots where I messed up and the paint bled into where I taped it off, but all in all I am happy with it.
Clay Posted December 17, 2010 Author Posted December 17, 2010 Thanks guys, here's another update. Got mostly everything put back on. Going to use the Testors 2 part vinyl top system for the convertible top.
Peter Lombardo Posted December 17, 2010 Posted December 17, 2010 Nice color choice....the silver sets it off nice. I like the lettering on the rear deck. Very nice...so far.
Dr. Cranky Posted December 17, 2010 Posted December 17, 2010 I love it. Black and silver, you can't get any classier than that! Keep it going, chap.
crazyjim Posted December 17, 2010 Posted December 17, 2010 Clay, I've read about BMF before painting but forget the process. Do you lay a piece of BMF over the letters and cut around the letters before painting and then rub the paint off the letters afterward? Or do you just paint over a strip of BMF and just polish the letters?
Clay Posted December 17, 2010 Author Posted December 17, 2010 I laid it down and then cut little squares around the letters, then I sanded it off.
