:blink: I was going to see what is available on Ebay for '67 Fairlane models and out of curiousity, I thought that I would check the real 1:1 cars and see what is on at the moment. This is most likely a case where someone watched the Barrett Jackson auctions and their fantasy prices and said to themselves, "Hey, I got me one of them just like that out back!! Wow! Didja see how much that sold fer? Man, mine's gotta be worth some serious coin! I'm gonna put it on Ebay and retire!!" What they fail;ed to note in their drug induced stupor was that the car that sold on the auction had two doors fewer than theirs does, it had a factory big block in it and it was actually running. Oh, ,and it wasn't sunk to the floors in rotted leaves and compost.. and the hood didn't look like an A frame dwelling for forest creatures.. No doubt, that was a really pretty car - appears to have been Frost Turquoise -0 my favorite colour on those Fairlanes.. but it would be pretty hard to find any parts - on it. :P Sorry for the rant but this is one of those auctions that really causes me to shake my head in disbelief.... B):huh::lol:

The problem with e-bay and the inter web is everyone thinks they have a gold mine but it turns out is just junk and they will try to sell it a few times but in the end it will just go to the scrapper

Well it's obvious she's not an enthusiast because she let the car get into that condition in the first place. Her motivation for selling is to clean the property, not to make a deal on a classic car. She hasn't done any transactions on eBay before, as her feedback shows. She didn't even make the effort to get the VIN or mileage, and I guess made those up. I'm guessing she probably just pulled that $ figure out of her- I mean, out of the air. I'm sure the price will go down after it doesn't sell this time. I'd be surprised if she's heard of Barrett-Jackson.

Gee, $2500 isn't such a bad deal for an original, undocumented Debris GT. It's in "minefield" condition!

:lol::lol:B)

Be afwaid, very afwaid!

i have a '49 Plymouth "parts" car that i paid $200 for that is probably similar to what this car is. at one time, many, many years ago it may have been a "neat" old car but being forgotten under a pine tree for the last 25 years has probably done more damage to that car that you can't see than what you can see and what you can see looks pretty bad.

$2500 is where i'd start looking for a decent 2-door hardtop in running and driving condition to build, most definitely not anywhere close where i'd pay for what is little more than scrap steel for the recycling yard. this is the kind of car that you are lucky to get maybe 3-4 good bits off of before it's value is only in the weight of it's rusted steel. there is more than likely little to nothing saveable from this car.

Oh, I think that there is more than three or four good parts on that car yet. B) I sold old car parts on Ebay for 10 years and I'll tell you this much - it is amazing how much stuff I could sell off of a rig that looked like it had absolutely squat to offer. I did well on the trinkets - switches, knobs, guages, wiring harness's, etc and this car would still have lots to offer as a parts car if you were wanting to take the time to really take it apart. I guess that it depends on what you would want off of the car but it would part out really well on Ebay. Mind you, the glory days are over as far as selling used parts go unless you have the right stuff. Fifteen years ago when Ebay was just Evay - before that cursed Ebay Motors was spawned, we would sell 90% of our listed items the first time they were offered and most of those items had multiple bids. When I quit selling a few years ago because of health issues, we were lucky to sell 30% of what we had listed and seldom did we have more than one bid on each item. They've really screwed the whole thing up now with new rules and requirements and Ebay has been quite succesful at driving most of the little guys like myself away. I just use the site for buying now. Realistically, I'd say that the car is worth no more than several hundred dollars as it sits and it is just a parts car. Who owned it is irrelevant - it's deteriorated past the point of being worth even trying to save. At least that is my opinion. :lol::D:)

the best thing about losing Comcast has been not being assaulted by this kind of rampant stupidity given a massively failing economy. i get enough of that at work, selling parts for 190k dollar POS's......
