Agent G Posted December 18, 2010 Posted December 18, 2010 (edited) I just heard a long time friend and former co worker shot himself early this morning. Harry P. Posted December 18, 2010 Posted December 18, 2010 I just heard a long time friend and former co worker shot himself early this morning. While not the first fellow LEO to commit suicide, this one really got to me. We've all been through some bad times, so why? G Everyone handles what life throws at them in their own way. Your friend handled it his way... might not make sense to you (or his family)... but ultimately he made his choice based on his perception of his own reality. Looking at it from the outside–the only way you and everyone he knew can look at it–you see things very differently than when you're the person in question and seeing things from the inside out.
george 53 Posted December 18, 2010 Posted December 18, 2010 Sorry for your loss Wayne. Harry's right, you will NEVER know what took him, so just remember what a good freind he was. nothing else. That's all that REALLY counts after all.
evilone Posted December 18, 2010 Posted December 18, 2010 Im sorry for your loss bro. i cant imagine what your going through. It could be that he was pushed to his breaking point by other people or even whats going on around the world. there is no definate explination as to why there are only ideas.
Ben Posted December 18, 2010 Posted December 18, 2010 Hey Wayne, really sorry to hear this........It's so hard to lose anyone we are close too. It makes it worse to not know why he chose to leave us. Only time will heal the pain.
DRG Posted December 18, 2010 Posted December 18, 2010 It is always sad to hear of a friend passing. That is especially true under these circumstances. We question why and yet there is no answer. Remember him for the friend he was.
mikemodeler Posted December 19, 2010 Posted December 19, 2010 Wayne, Sorry for your loss, hopefully the good memories will last and soon you will forget how he passed. We had an officer here in the Charlotte area recently kill his wife and then himself and the officers he worked with are at a loss for answers much like you are. How everyone handles the stress or difficulties is probably the hardest thing for anyone to figure out. No matter how bad it seems, there is a way out. Take care and be strong!
walt francis Posted December 19, 2010 Posted December 19, 2010 I have to say that has to be a tough way to lose a friend and not know if you could have helped ...Sorry for your loss.
Agent G Posted December 19, 2010 Author Posted December 19, 2010 Thank You All. I guess the holidays have a lot to do with this hitting so hard. I cannot help wondering if I was there, then maybe...................... But deep down I know better. Bill made his decision, and none of us could have changed his mind. G
Danno Posted December 19, 2010 Posted December 19, 2010 (edited) Wayne, Deepest sympathies for the loss of your friend. Perhaps God had sudden need for another centurion. The holiday season really seems to bring it on and make it all the worse at the same time. Last week was a rough one for my circle of friends and I, too. We lost two colleagues, long time friends, great guys, brothers in blue, to massive heart attacks. Both sudden and unexpected; both gone quickly. Perhaps a squad of centurions was needed, but it makes heavy on the hearts of those left behind. Another friend of mine lost his wife's mother last week after a long illness, but in God's special way, their family was also blessed with a brand new baby daughter/granddaughter the next day. God does His work in mysterious, wonderous ways and the life he gives us always keeps us guessing. Bless you and your friends, and the grieving family. Go forth to make the Merriest Christmas you can! Best, Edited December 19, 2010 by Danno
txdieseldog Posted December 19, 2010 Posted December 19, 2010 Wayne, being a LEO as well, brings on the question of why just by the nature of the position. But it holds true that the deepest thoughts and concerns of others are a mystery to all but themselves and God Almighty. At this point, his family and friends such as you just need each other to get through this devastating event. Please know and trust that all involved are in my prayers. Be a blessing to those around you through your love and support.. Be safe and have a Blessed and Merry Christmas. Your Brother in Blue Barry
imatt88 Posted December 19, 2010 Posted December 19, 2010 Dude, that really sucks. Don't try and figure it out. You never will. I know, I had a fellow soldier a couple of years ago take his own life, the funeral was hard for our whole unit Good kid, good soldier, to this day, I still don't know why he did it. Drive on bro, thats all you can do..
