David G. Posted December 21, 2010 Posted December 21, 2010 In addition to my own name, I have only two screen names that I use: daveag or Midloth. The first is obviously a contraction of my first name and last two initials. The second comes from a region in Scotland where my grandmother's clan, Harper, was said to have lived. When they were there, the whole area which includes Edinburgh and the surrounding areas, moslty to the south, was known as Lothian. It has since been divided into three regions East Lothian, West Lothian, and, you guessed it, Midlothian. I loved the sound of that name from the moment I heard it; I dropped the "-ian" and it's been my alter ego for more than thirty years. I've associated it mainly with the gaming sites to which I belong, so I don't use it here. I also don't feel a need for anonymity in this community. Regards, David G.
camaroman Posted December 24, 2010 Posted December 24, 2010 I am camaroman every where that it is not already taken. Started it over at the "other" place... can't remember when I was last over "There". On Bachmann's train site I am tfman. Anyone care to guess why???
Zoom Zoom Posted December 24, 2010 Posted December 24, 2010 I'm a dyed-in-the-wool Mazda fan. I currently own two, and in the past had a B2200 SE5 and RX4 coupe. I'll always be a Mazda customer
runsw/scissors Posted December 24, 2010 Posted December 24, 2010 It's what I did as a kid, still do sometimes. Momma said I wasn't too bright. Always been able to use it no matter whereI go.
Modelmartin Posted December 25, 2010 Posted December 25, 2010 A friend of an old friend of mine referred to me as modelmartin whenever he saw me so I took it as my username when I started on Ebay about 10 years ago. I use it on some of the resin kits I sell but will be phasing that out and sticking with Aardvark Models in the future. It was a natural choice for all of my usernames online.
montelsc Posted December 26, 2010 Posted December 26, 2010 I've used a handle due to professional considerations. Can't explain it to you, I'd have to ... well, you know the rest. Besides, what makes you think my real name is my real name? screen names are cool no one really knows who you are (ex whos montelsc? i dont know) PS: When I first signed on, I wanted to use 'Bart R. Orlans,' but it was already taken.
Joker Posted December 27, 2010 Posted December 27, 2010 Just changed from Kit Bash to Joker Kit Bash because I can't stand stock Joker cuz life is not guaranteed James
Green Duster Posted December 27, 2010 Posted December 27, 2010 I try to use Green Duster as much as possible. But some websites it won't work. Then I just use my real name.
Junkman Posted December 27, 2010 Posted December 27, 2010 Unfortunately 'Junkman' is very often taken already, so I have to come up with a different one. I then usually use my 'real' name, which I don't use in 'normal' life - Baron von Zach. Yes, I am the 17th Baron von Zach.
FASTBACK340 Posted December 27, 2010 Posted December 27, 2010 Now I am an old guy who wasn't born into the computer age and maybe that is why I don't get it, but why do people feel the need to use a different name on different modeling website forums? I use the same name no matter if I am on here or any other site. I am oldscool here, there and everywhere. I'm with you OldSchool... All the forums I'm on I have the same screen name: FASTBACK340 My avatar explains why....
