Dr. Cranky Posted January 7, 2011 Posted January 7, 2011 Totally interesting results . . . http://www.youtube.com/user/awesomepaintjob#p/u/37/UXTqlEsvXRA
cruz Posted January 7, 2011 Posted January 7, 2011 I am always looking for practical and viable alternatives to building and painting my models, this is definitely something I will be trying. Thanks for sharing Virgil!!!!
Draggon Posted January 7, 2011 Posted January 7, 2011 Yea that looks promising. I'd like to see what it looks like applied over a smooth finish, his paint looks pretty rough.
Dr. Cranky Posted January 7, 2011 Author Posted January 7, 2011 I think the smoother the foundation, the more of a mirror finish you should get.
MrObsessive Posted January 7, 2011 Posted January 7, 2011 I think the smoother the foundation, the more of a mirror finish you should get. Right Virgil! Good prep is the key here............like any other paint job, the results are only as good as the time you take to get the basics right. That's some interesting stuff...........might have to check into that!
ra7c7er Posted January 7, 2011 Posted January 7, 2011 I used to watch that site when I painted my gaming miniatures.
Dr. Cranky Posted January 7, 2011 Author Posted January 7, 2011 You are right, Bill. There's great information on washes and using the airbrush on that site.
crazyjim Posted January 7, 2011 Posted January 7, 2011 I don't get it. First you have to apply their paint and then the powder? That would make it like using the HW Japan gensing powder to replicate chrome (but it doesn't). I didn't see a chrome finish at the Hawkeye site.
crazyjim Posted January 7, 2011 Posted January 7, 2011 (edited) I emailed Gerald at Hawkeye and he replied that the powders can be applied over any paint. For chrome you should put the powder over either white or black. Who is going to be first to try it out? I replied back to Gerald asking if a clear coat can be applied without ruining the finish (like Alclad and Gensing). Edited January 7, 2011 by crazyjim
