LAone Posted January 26, 2011 Posted January 26, 2011 looks like a sweet ride. i like the wheels on this body. looks good.
mikemodeler Posted January 26, 2011 Posted January 26, 2011 That is going to be one sweet looking ride when you are done! I like the look of a drop top on that body style and the late model wheels look perfect for it. Which kit did you get the body from? That isn't the Revell Z-28 kit is it? Thanks

Lownslow Posted January 26, 2011 Author Posted January 26, 2011 looks like a sweet ride. i like the wheels on this body. looks good. i would love to see a 1:1 in the future i didnt know this car even existed as a vert
mikemodeler Posted January 26, 2011 Posted January 26, 2011 i would love to see a 1:1 in the future i didnt know this car even existed as a vert I don't believe Chevy ever made a convertible version on the second generation Camaros. I think there was a company that did conversions of them into convertibles but they were contracted by dealers to do them. Can't wait to see this one painted!
crazyjim Posted January 26, 2011 Posted January 26, 2011 I bet this is going to be another terrific build. Is that HOK paint you're using pre-mixed?
Lownslow Posted January 26, 2011 Author Posted January 26, 2011 I bet this is going to be another terrific build. Is that HOK paint you're using pre-mixed? nah, i bought this from coastairbrush.com i think they do sell it premixed
Lownslow Posted January 26, 2011 Author Posted January 26, 2011 not a car that ever should have been a convertible but in scale it works and it's cool. sometimes things in scale can be cooler than the 1:1 and this is a good example. for a snap kit too it looks like the top fits really nice. is that right OOB or did you do work to it to get it to fit so well? new Camaro wheels are an excellent choice too its not a bad kit the wheels and so called tires went right into the garbage. yeah it went together pretty easily i cut the mounting posts on the front bumper cause it was off a bit to the right. its a really hard plastic and kinda scary to work with.
GTMust Posted January 26, 2011 Posted January 26, 2011 Can't tell you who made the conversion, but a friend of mine had an early '80's Z28 convertible like this model, back in the mid eighties. It was a dark red with a white interior and the usual Z28 graphics. Don't remember the color of the top as he barely ever had it up! It really was a cool looking car and I've seen a couple for sale on Kijiji fairly recently, so there must have been quite a few of them built. Asking prices for them now are higher than a stock Camaro Z.
kelson Posted January 26, 2011 Posted January 26, 2011 I look forward to seeing this build,i have this same kit as well in my stash as well as the 81'firebird conv that revell released at the same time, not sure what direction i wanted to go with them but your build so far has given me some ideas.
cruz Posted January 26, 2011 Posted January 26, 2011 Looks like a cool project, the cinammon color will look good on it. I think the rims and wheels are too big for it but it's your car and choice.
Lownslow Posted January 27, 2011 Author Posted January 27, 2011 I think I recognize that... thats it i ran into my room to check the decals theyre DECALS this only adds to the fun
charlie8575 Posted January 27, 2011 Posted January 27, 2011 Too bad G.M. didn't do this in 1:1, I think it looks pretty good myself. I'll enjoy watching this come together. Charlie Larkin
