sobpinstriping Posted January 28, 2011 Posted January 28, 2011 (edited) I finished this up the other day, Its my first chop and channel, I'm pretty happy with it (of course their are a couple things I would do better next time). I used wood laminate from my new job for the roof rack, I gotta say I love how it turned out. The grill is some scrap aluminum from work. The wheels and tires are from my parts box, I wanted to use some pie crust slicks out back but didn't have any, I will keep my eye out for some and change it later. I scratch built the visor also. when I drilled the holes for the intake I missed my mark so the intakes are leaning forward, I don't know why but the front passenger wheel is sagging so I'm kinda bummed on that. the tail lights are gonna be changed, it looks to street roderish for my taste. so yeah, I'm pretty happy with it, let me know what you guys think thanks mat Edited January 28, 2011 by sobpinstriping
Chris C Posted January 28, 2011 Posted January 28, 2011 Cool! Actually don't mind the slanted intakes, looks more aggressive.
Foxer Posted January 28, 2011 Posted January 28, 2011 That stands very nice. I like your using found materials ... that's my idea of building! The wood rack looks great .. that's some thin wood!
Sixties Sam Posted January 28, 2011 Posted January 28, 2011 I like it! The color is good, and the roof rack is great! It adds a lot of character to the model. Regarding the tilted front wheel, the axle looks like it is bent a little. You might be able to straighten it with CAREFUL use of a heat gun. Sam
sobpinstriping Posted January 28, 2011 Author Posted January 28, 2011 (edited) Thanks guys, If any one wants some scraps of the laminate wood I always have pieces left over from work, send me a pm and I will mail you some. The front axle is really loose feeling it moves really easy, I probably did some thing to damage it Edited January 28, 2011 by sobpinstriping
Jantrix Posted January 28, 2011 Posted January 28, 2011 Matt, I like it a lot. It looks like you learned a lot doing it. You got a great build there with a lot of character.
outlaw035 Posted January 29, 2011 Posted January 29, 2011 matt...very nice...like everything about it...but think it might run just a little hot with that grille...and btw no way that looks like a streetrod...
sobpinstriping Posted January 29, 2011 Author Posted January 29, 2011 Thanks again for the comments. I went thru 3 different grills trying to drill it out evenly and I just lost patience with it so I just tossed it in with out drilling it, maybe one day when I'm board I will pop it out and drill it.
Chuck Most Posted January 29, 2011 Posted January 29, 2011 I don't see anything I'd change if it were mine. Must say your first chop and channel job came out way, way, WAY better than mine!
samdiego Posted January 30, 2011 Posted January 30, 2011 (edited) Yeah, I recognize that front axle problem. I think I've broken three of them so far, they are a little fragile. I've drilled and pinned mine back together. you can email Revell for replacements, too. Edited January 30, 2011 by samdiego
vaughn Posted February 1, 2011 Posted February 1, 2011 I like it a lot. And yea, Revell will send replacement parts...up to 5 I think. Anyway...looks great for a first.
93Z34 Posted February 1, 2011 Posted February 1, 2011 Nice job! The stance, finish and surfboard really make this car shine.
