For any of you that were waiting for the new Mercedes SLS to come out in a US version box do not wait any longer. I got a note from Revell telling me they canceled this kit.

IF you must have this kit, like I do, then you need to find a source that carries it in the Revell of Germany box.

So far I have been fruitless in my finds and only hope it just hasn't made it here yet. I was/am very disappointed that they chose not to box this kit for US consumption.

I just wanted to pass that info along so that everyone that was thinking about getting the kit wouldn't miss out.

This is typical, we need/want new kits. I love the classic cars, but I am an all arround car guy. I want to have some NEW models in my collection too. I was super pumped about the new Mercedes SLS, now I am just sad ;)

Model Express was carrying them but he appears to be sold out since he's removed the image from his website. You could try emailing Dennis to find out whether he is bringing more in.

I'm awaiting an email reply from inside Revell.

Tower Hobbies shows a mid-February restock. I'm pretty sure the first run sold out fast, it's that good of a kit. This happened with the Revell AG Audi R8 kits.

Sometimes what happens is a Revell AG kit is reboxed for US consumption, if the Revell AG boxed version sells out, it is discontinued by the distributor in anticipation of the kit from the US sales channel. Right now communications might be crossed.

I suspect a licensing issue, or perhaps not enough pre-orders for the US version. Looking at the MRC/Aoshima page, they don't have the stock SL63 any longer, nor any indication of getting the SL 65 Black Series. Licensing issues w/Mercedes, perhaps?? It wouldn't surprise me.

Don't freak out, the Revell AG kit will be still available, you just won't get the same price as a Revell US kit. For the $35 discounted price of the Revell AG kit, it's still a good model.

They aren't gaining any new customers buy canceling new kits. The local shop here had 12 preorders for them hurt the shop and Revell. The need to realize that they can't survive on reissues of 40 year old kits forever. Bring on the new stuff.

Blame Mercedes Benz, not Revell, for the fact that the US-packaged version has been canceled due to licensing issues.
