There are alot of interesting posts in the "When did you start" Thread noting when you switched to cars,I.E. Dan Baker:"Well, jeeeez! I didn't count airplanes or boats or anything but cars. :D

But, if I do count planes and boats ... just makes me feel OLDER!".

I remember building everything and then staying with planes. Along about High School 61-65, somewhere in there a friend made a coment," Why are you always building those dumb planes? Cars are better." We were at his house and every body was dipping into his extra parts building what ever they could. All I remember is whatever it was I was building had a rear box built out of a Monogram '34 Ford's hood sides. And as they say the rest is history.

With a few exceptions I think, planes, boats, tanks etc are meant to be built as replicas. There's not much creativity involved. But cars just scream, "Do something original and artistic" in 1:1 and in scale. So loving cars and being a seriously right brained individual, planes and boats vever had a chance.

I still have a lot of airplane and armor kits, but I guess I am just a car guy at heart.

I have tried to escape it, I even got a college degree, but I still keep getting drug back into the auto industry. It's in my blood, DNA.

So naturally I keep getting drawn back to cars.

Maybe I should stop trying to fight it and deal with it.

I agree ... when the AMT kits came out in 1958 all I wanted to do was chop, channel and section ... with dual headlights and Packard taillights of course! :D

I've never built anything else. I'm so picky even when it comes to cars that it's hard for me to stay motivated unless it's something I'm really into. It's cars or nothing for me.

I've always been mostly a car modeler, but do enjoy venturing into other subjects as well.

Only liked cars and trucks..did do a few slot cars back in the day.

As I lived down the street from Brooke Stevens and his sons I saw a lot of unique cars on a daily basis. This was when Excaliber was in its prime....;):P;)

Same here I am kind of picky when it comes to models. It's why I am having such a hard time really getting involved in building. I have a few kits I really want to build but since I am still really new I don't want to do them right now and I know if I start on something I am not that interested in I probably won't finish it. I really just need some inspiration to get started.

I was into slot cars before I started Modeling. When I moved and didn't have enough space to set up my track and I found a kit of a model car I built when I was a kid with my grandpa I kind of jumped back into it.

I started building show cars, Red Baron, Pie Wagon etc. I went over to plabes and armor for a while, My brother built WWI biplanes and dad like ships. I love history and we took many vacations that involved aircraft museums etc. Nothing like Visiting the USS North CArolina and then building one... When I started getting back into models several years ago I was a NASCAR fan and thats all I built for quite a while, now most anything with 4 (or more ) wheels is fair game. I pretty build box stock but have started venturing out with some mild customizing. Who knows, by the time I'm 80 I might be scratch building.

I was only building WWI planes and had built a few ships. Then one Christmas our teacher gave all the boys in the class a 62 Plymouth unassembled promo. (her husband was sales Mgr at the dealership) which with the help of my uncle was painted before asembly and another part of the world of modeling was opened for me!. Been building cars and trucks ever since!
