wreckless666 Posted February 19, 2011 Posted February 19, 2011 (edited) first off im not sure if this the right place to post this but here it is anyway. i used to have an 95 talon tsi with a 92 6 bolt swap and eclipse bumpers front and back which i later sold to my brother. my question is which kit is better detailed, revell gsx or the amt fast and furious kit. my plan is to either find a neon kit or the amt 88 daytona kit to transplant the motor into and weather the eclipse and throw it in the junkyard . i want the kit mostly for the motor but i could always use other peices from the kit such as rims and seats ect. wreckless666 Posted February 20, 2011 Author Posted February 20, 2011 i'm not up on Mitsubishi's engines but the two kits have two different engine and drivetrain combinations. the Revell kit has what i believe is a DOHC engine and AWD. the AMT kit has the single cam with the unique valve cover and FWD. i know when those kits hit the market there was some debate over the technical details of the AMT engine and how the turbo and intake/exhaust were done. again, no idea on if it's right or wrong as i don't know anything about these cars. the revell was the all wheel drive gsx with a 4g63. its exactly what im looking for. but i may just pick up both kits just because haha
Joe Handley Posted February 21, 2011 Posted February 21, 2011 IIRC the RMX kit will have the AWD with Mitsubishi engine, while the AMT model has the basic Chrysler 2.0l 4 cylinder with a turbo conversion on it (which I guess it correct for the car used in the movie.) I'd have loved to fit the "Neon" head to the 2.2 block in one of the Daytonas, but the AMT engine was just horrible IIRC.
Chuck Most Posted February 21, 2011 Posted February 21, 2011 I've built only the AMT version, but I do have the Revell kit in my stash, and I'd have to say the Revell kit has a slight edge over the AMT in terms of detail, and the parts seem to be more crisply molded. The sore points (for me) in the Revell are the big dogleg hinges for the hood and the pins for mounting the headlamp lenses, but the better detail, not to mention the AWD drivetrain, offsets that for me.
