What do you guys/guyettes find works best for overcoating inkjet printed decals on Testors' system paper? The Testors "Bonding" spray, One Coat clear, Tamiya clear, Krylon acrylic clear, or what?

Thanks in advance!

I've used the Testors bonding spray and the One-Coat Wet Look clear, both with good results on my inkjet decals. Funny, the bonding spray smells just like regular clearcoat... Coincidence? Can't say about the others because I've not used them.

I've always used the Testors spray, it works fine so I've never tried anything else.I've seen lots of posts from people who like Krylon clear, but never used it myself.

I've always used Krylon acrylic clear, but also had a small can of Testor's spray for decals and that worked well also.

It's my understanding that it's important to use acrylic clear but the reasons escape me at the moment.

I've not been doing decals very long but I use DuPont automotive lacquer and have had no problem, but then I am not using Testors paper. I have some that I got of the internet and got a fair amount of paper for a reasonable cost.

I've used Testors bonding spray, Clear Krylon, and clear Duplicolor and they all work fine. Right now I'm using this stuff that I get at Hobby Lobby.

You have a choice of gloss or matte so if you're making a decal to go on a battery or such that should have a flat finish you can do that.

Thanks for sharing the ideas and suggestions, guys.

I took a shot with some Testors clear and it seemed to do well. I tested a sample on a scrap body and it worked nicely. The real deal will go down in a day or two after I polish up the body some and let the decals cure a little more.

Again, thanks for the help. This is my first go-round with self-made decals. :D
