This is a resin transkit Biscayne, my first all resin bodied kit.

I had trouble with the vacuum formed glass fit, I probably should have tried to trim the pillars a little.

I used an AMT kit for a doner chassis, parts box engine, wheels and tires, and a scratch made cage.

I used a picture of the real car to make the decals. Its not great but my dad is going to love it.

I am going to give it to him Saturday.

Nice Impala! That real thing looks very good, and model is also amazing! Color looks good on it, and those decals aren't bad! Engine detailing is nice, and those wheels and tires are looking good. I like it, you did a good job! :D

That is really cool Mitch! I'm sure the old man will be proud. :D What kind of paint did you use on the rear wheels? It looks dead on.

Thanks!

It's just good ole' Krylon silver. I think it was the dull finish.

Looking at your model reminds me that I have to get back to work on the '64 Biscayne 4-door sedan I'm trying to fake together from the AMT Impala. It's been tough sledding so far, but I'm too broke to go the transkit route, even in the off chance someone made something as obscure as a '64 base-model 4-door, unless they had a Police car or taxi in mind. Like yours, it's meant as a gift - it'll be a replica of my wife's first car.

How did your dad respond to his gift?

Thanks for asking.

He loved it. He called me today to tell me he was showing it off to the guys at the parts store.

Here is a car I did for him a few years back that he drove for the Ben Robinson Buick dealership in Wichita.

A 1970 Buick GSX special ordered from the factory for racing.
