DRG Posted March 20, 2011 Posted March 20, 2011 There was a good assortment of models for sale at the Cleveland Auto-Rama but the only one that really caught my eye was this 66 Chevelle. Does anyone know anything about this particular kit, good, bad or otherwise. Thanks for any information you can offer.
Harry P. Posted March 20, 2011 Posted March 20, 2011 Everything I've ever heard about that kit was nothing but good.
Longbox55 Posted March 20, 2011 Posted March 20, 2011 It's a pretty nice kit. Only issue I've had is the chrome was a bit fragile on the 2 I have. MCG has a very nice detail kit for it.
george 53 Posted March 20, 2011 Posted March 20, 2011 GET IT!!! It's a GREAT kit, very detailed and well designed! It's also a VERY accurate kit. Don't worry, you'll like it!!!
novadose71 Posted March 20, 2011 Posted March 20, 2011 It is one great kit, and you got it for a good price. I don't remember running into any problems while building it, but Bill is right about the fragile chrome, I think Alclad might be a bit more durable. I don't think you will get the gap between the hood and grille if you use the kit grille either. I built mine as a replica of my Dad's 66 and used the MCG photoetch set. I liked it so much that I bought 2 more kits and another detail set for myself. Have a nice build:)
Terry Sumner Posted March 20, 2011 Posted March 20, 2011 I've owned 3 1966 Chevelles in my life and I will echo what the others have said...it's a really good kit!
Keef Posted March 20, 2011 Posted March 20, 2011 i have one of these too and have been wondering about it as well, mine was open when i got it and looks to be very detailed, ive been curious as to what it would build up like and now i know
Casey Posted March 20, 2011 Posted March 20, 2011 Best kit ever produced of the '66 Chevelle! Well, second best: Seriously, I think the Lindberg '66 Chevelle SS is widely regarded as their best kit of the modern Lindberg era, so don't hesitate to buy and/or build one.
roadhawg Posted March 20, 2011 Posted March 20, 2011 I guess the only thing I don't like about this kit is the molded in bumper guards.....every 1:1 '66 Chevelle I've ever been associated with didn't have those. Other than that, it's one of my 10 favorite kits.
