Hi,

I know a few of you are hoping that the aftermarket will bring out some decals for the new Revell midget kits. I spoke with a couple long-time MassCar members at the show on Sunday, and they are well on their way to bringing out two decal sheets for the midgets.

The company is called Vintage Racing Miniatures.

They plan on having two sheets - one for the Offy engined kit and one for the V8-60 kit. Each sheet will have decals for SIX different cars that actually ran back in the day.

And on top of that, each sheet will contain a large set of gold leaf numbers and lots of product logo decals to allow the builder to build their own "phantom" race car.

So if you get both sheets you will be able to build 12 different replicas plus a ton of phantom cars.

I got to see the artwork for the two sheets and they look great. They tell me that they have about a month of work left to do on the artwork, and then they will send it off to Cartograf. They expect to have decals ready and for sale by the beginning of the summer. Price will be $15.00 per sheet.

There is also a decal maker called Greg's Racing Graphics that has a few sets for both the Ford and the Offy Midgets. (He has a website but I've never ordered from him) The VRM decals, I'm sure will be great though since the quality of all their sheets are top grade.

Scale Auto details has 10 decal sets currently available for the new Revell KK midget (9 Offys and 1 V8 60). There will be 7 more sets released in the next 30 days; 6 more Offys (some with a Hillegass or Peck nose - available from Big Donkey Resin) and another V8 60. Here is a pic of my latest Revell KK midget build using a resin nose/grill from Big Donkey Resin and decals from Scale Auto Details. The Mataka Borthers Offy that Mario Andretti drove in '62-'63.
