Rick Schmidt Posted April 5, 2011 Posted April 5, 2011 Finished up my 92 Caprice tonight. Had this kit years ago hen it as a new car, decided I anted a second chance at it since I haven't seen many done. Built box stock except for lowering the rear a bit. Painted Testors Graphite Dust to try to match it to a Crown Vic I already have.
Naydrus Posted April 5, 2011 Posted April 5, 2011 Oh my god... seriously.. where did you get that kit?!?! I drive a 93, and have ALWAYS wanted a Caprice for my collection!!! Ive seen the Impala SS, and while they are similar, the grill is different.. along with the rims.... been searching high and low for a Caprice.... and the only one I have found was a 76 at my local HS.....
MrObsessive Posted April 5, 2011 Posted April 5, 2011 Nice conversion! Didn't like seeing those in my rear view mirror back then when the local PD's were runnin' 'em. Oh my god... seriously.. where did you get that kit?!?! Those Caprices are all over eBay...........just do a search for "Revell Caprice" and you'll see a long list of 'em. BTW, that kit IIRC only came as a taxi............I don't remember seeing any of the Revell '92's done any other way. You could kitbash the one you've got with the '92 to get what you want.

They were also made as a police car molded in white , They had an electronic flasher unit inside for the kid's, They also had stick on decals for Springfield, Wisconsin, I have one of those and 2 of the Taxi's ,Those were molded in yellow, If you are looking for one, As you live in Saginaw,Michigan, Look up Dean's Hobby Stop online, Go into the revell kits, And you should find one, I was looking on there just the other day , And he had them F/S for around $15, It would be worth the 45 minute drive to his shop, You can find almost anything there , His shop is in Flushing ,Michigan. MrObsessive is correct about the taxi , And to the person that built this model,Very Nice Job ,I have had one in the works for awhile , But keep putting it away. Very cool car, And that color looks great on it.
Naydrus Posted April 5, 2011 Posted April 5, 2011 Ive heard of Deans.. just never had the chance to get there.... I found a few on Ebay.. talkin to my mom bout a early birthday present, lol.
Danno Posted April 5, 2011 Posted April 5, 2011 Here is the box art for each of the two versions of Revell's Caprice: The first issue was the police car kit, molded in white. It came with a funky toylike blinking light bar in addition to a more accurate replica light bar: The kit was later reissued without the toy lightbar, in the same boxart but absent the reference to the flashing lightbar. The second issue was the taxi/fire chief car combination kit, molded in yellow. It came with all the same parts as the police car, but also had a taxi "hat" light, clipboard, and taxi and fire dept. stickers. Both should be readily available via emodelcars.com or that other auction place.
Janne Herajärvi Posted April 5, 2011 Posted April 5, 2011 Very nice. I have one Caprice in progress right now, its going to be New York City Police car. Im just trying to find right blue paint for it...
Agent G Posted April 5, 2011 Posted April 5, 2011 Janne, Ford Grabber Blue is almost an exact match, as is Ford Engine Blue depending on the time frame you're modelling. G
montelsc Posted April 5, 2011 Posted April 5, 2011 hey that looks just like the one i have but mine has dark red interior so i dont have to tell you how good it looks if i have one in the the same color
