I went to check on the kit over at the MODEL ROUND UP and this is what I found:

1976 Gremlin (2 'n 1) Stock or Drag (1/25) (fs) Sold Out - Will Return - Early April - 2012

Ready to jump off the dunes and spit sand high in the air, it's the classic Meyers Manx! This fantastic little machine can be built in 4 different ways and will be packaged in a recreation of the original box art. It will even include a special reproduction of the bonus cardboard display stand that came with the very first issue of the kit!

Build this wild kit one of four ways: Myers "Manx"/Street Version?Meyers Dune Buggy/Baja Version

Please note 1 of every 12 kits, or 1 per carton is a "chase or bonus kit" molded in translucent red. These kits may become more collectable. We have no way of knowing

which kits are the chase kits. These are randomly distributed throughout the production run. clear1x1.gifclear1x1.gif

So with my luck, I ended up opening what could possibly be a collectors' item in the distant future. Well, thanks AMT. If anyone wants to trade me for a regular white styrene kit, let me know . . . I'm really not crazy about this.

Yeah, right. Just as collectable as the "429" 427 Corvette kit. Not. Build it, Crank ... you won't be disappointed.

Danno, I want to but I find all that red/glitter textured styrene a bit of a turn off, and I don't want to do all the extra work of sealing and primering just to get the kind of quality I would expect if I started out with white styrene in the first place. I'm already trading it for the regular kit.

Well, okay.

Seriously, the kit is the bomb. The glitterclear is just a feable marketing ploy anyway.

Not to worry. It's Friday - the time for the pool (when it's warm enough), pizza, popcorn, and WWE Friday Night Smackdown. That's almost as good as viewing a SHINY :) :) :) build.

One of these days I need to open my Manx kit and see what's in there.

Beautiful job, Tye. Well, I wanted to do some Tiki Stuff on mine, and I just don't feel like going through the process of sealing and primering that all that red plastic.

I really like the way yours turned out.

Did you play the lottery today Virgil??? ;)

i might have to take back what i said in another forum here about the red plastic not looking good no matter what you do with it: that looks great with the chrome undercoat!

Elliot, buddy, thanks for trading me for the white styrene kit. It just arrived today. I am back in business. Yours is going out tomorrow morning. Again, thanks.

Hi Guys,

I'm knew in these parts and I'm not sure what is okay when posting my pictures. I don't want to hijack someones thread , so shoot me if necessary !

This is the finished engine for my Manx . The plug wires are too big a diameter and the valve covers are upside down , but I can live with it . I think I'll paint my buggy orange !

Good looking engines. I just found intakes for duel webers so I guess I can get started on mine.

robert motor looks pretty good. those must be solex carbs there, aka "kadron"s? i ran those for awhile but eventually switched to good ole webers. nice motor there, really like the belt guard there and the extractor looks boss.
