Guest Gramps-xrds Posted April 18, 2011 Posted April 18, 2011 Here's another junk box build. The cab is AMT's 53, the frame is Revell's 57 truck, the dually wheels are from one of the grandson old toys. The wrecker bed is scratched from Evergreen sheet and tubing. I printed my own decals for it. All the rest is from the junk box.
Custom Hearse Posted April 18, 2011 Posted April 18, 2011 Cool Bill! I love it! You did an excellent job on that!
Bernard Kron Posted April 18, 2011 Posted April 18, 2011 Now that is cool! I'll just kick back for a while and dig all neat little details. It must have been a lot of fun to build. Thanx for sharing!
DRG Posted April 18, 2011 Posted April 18, 2011 Building models like that from your junk box makes me want your junk box. That is one cool wrecker, great job.
GTMust Posted April 18, 2011 Posted April 18, 2011 One neat wrecker and I love it. A small question for my own edification..... did the '53 Ford truck cab ever come with chrome window trim, or was it just held in place with a rubber seal? Not a criticism....... just curious if anyone knows. Tony

In some of the rubber trims there was a chrome center locking bead that you installed to expand the rubber over the glass and the flange. It took a special tool and a lot of dish liquid to get it in place. I still have that tool out in the garage somewhere. lol Good catch. lol
diymirage Posted April 18, 2011 Posted April 18, 2011 it looks great i especially like the rear bumpers, that seems ver authentic now, my only criticism would be that the paint and the rims just look to new i mean, a truck that has a 2X6 for a front bumper and a 70s series for a rear bumper just shouldnt look that shiny
charlie8575 Posted April 18, 2011 Posted April 18, 2011 That came out very nicely, Bill. Great concept and a nice reuse of parts. Charlie Larkin
