as i slowly complete the room i decided to break it in with a bang, i scored the kit last weekend at a discount and figured might as well start fresh this year and pick up the other WIPs along the way. the car will be box stock since most wheels i tried on it didnt look right. ill be changing the silver on the wheels to a magnesium. im undecided on the interior.

Sounds like a plan mate! Good for you  Sometime's you need to take a step back & re-boot  Happens to the best of us  Love the colour you've chosen & a nice dark, but not black, colour ( matt ) on the wheels will set it off nicely  Maybe something like Testors Titanium??

Cheers Cliffo  Good luck with this build champ 

I think that the wheels would look killer if they were done with Testors "Smoke" over the kit chrome.

I agree with Ken on the wheels. Looking great so far and that Cinnamon color will be killer. What are you using for reference material on the paint detailing and build?

Engine's looking great! ;)

Just a suggestion on the wheels ... if you decide to go with the Cinnamon Pearl, I think they'd would look great with only the centers painted black and the outer wheels left chrome.

its a one piece rim if it was two id do it but i dont want it to look riced out

none lol just the instructions and what i feel is better as far as metalizer selection.

You could always mask the outer rims using some narrow tape. Or, all-black wheels would be another option. Bob Downie built this model and painted the wheels on his black... it looks killer!

Thanks! Actually my wheels are a mad-scientist concoction of Alclad colors mixed/matched, recoated, revised, and coated w/Tamiya smoke; and as you know I'm still second-guessing the look. They do look great, but on my pearl white car I think I could have done better with either straight gloss black, or straight Alclad stainless steel on the wheels.

For Lownslow's model, I think straight gloss black would be perfect. My "I have no idea how I'd match them again" colored wheels would look better on his car than on my white car ;)

It is nice to know Tamiya did not simplify the drivetrain on this one, it is fully detailed to the level that a lot of people would have wanted the Aston Martin to be done. And yet so much of this awesome mechanical stuff is fairly well buried from view once it is all put together. You can put the engine/drivetrain/suspension together with the wheels and put that assembly under anything. Only the pricetag of doing such would be the greatest hurdle.

that engine looks killer. man, i gotta get me some alclads. keep up the great work.

i heard and only heard. that toyota/lexus wouldnt let tamiya replicate the LFA unless it had such details. engine, drivetrain and suspension along with the PE goodies make this kit worth the money. i plan to buy 2 of them, well i should say my wife does.. :):)
