1320wayne Posted April 25, 2011 Posted April 25, 2011 I had been showing the progress on this build in the workbench section but hadn't updated anything in over a month. Well, low and behold, I was able to pretty much get it finished today. It's a combination of pretty much pieces from the parts box. The 26 body and chassis was picked up at a show a number of years back, combined with a Revell Parts Pack Caddy 354, a few of scratchbuilt pieces, Detail Master velocity stacks and spun aluminum wheel covers and decals acquired off Ebay. The paint was accomplished by placing the painted body into the dip tank for stripping purposes only to find that it had been painted over around six times with different colors. When I went to rinse the body I ended up with this effect so I went with it. I will probably still find some small details that I can add or tweak somewhere down the road but for now it's done. Thanks for looking.
Chuck Most Posted April 25, 2011 Posted April 25, 2011 Not a thing about it I don't like... except that 1. I didn't build it, and 2. it's not on my shelf! Other than that, it's golden!
John Teresi Posted April 25, 2011 Posted April 25, 2011 Wayne......I was wondering when you were going to finish this.......turned out AWESOME man.
randx0 Posted April 25, 2011 Posted April 25, 2011 How does the driver see where he's going??? Harry this is not real . It is a model. Great build but maybe you need to include a periscope/Harryscope.
Dr. Cranky Posted April 25, 2011 Posted April 25, 2011 DOCTOR CRANKY likes it, no he LOVES it! Great job! Love the general gunking and rusting!

Danno Posted April 25, 2011 Posted April 25, 2011 How does the driver see where he's going??? He has to drive quickly because he only has a very narrow window of opportunity!
Daniel Peterson Posted April 25, 2011 Posted April 25, 2011 How does the driver see where he's going??? See where he's going? I'm guessing people would just get out of the way if they saw that beast coming.
Daniel Peterson Posted April 25, 2011 Posted April 25, 2011 Sick and perverse...but in a healthy, All-American sorta way. I love it!
Chuck Most Posted April 26, 2011 Posted April 26, 2011 He has to drive quickly because he only has a very narrow window of opportunity! Can I get a rimshot?
1320wayne Posted April 26, 2011 Author Posted April 26, 2011 Thanks for all of the comments guys. This was a lot of fun to build. No pressure to get that pristine high gloss finish or put everything in the right place because that's where it's supposed to go. I might have to take this same approach on more builds in the future.
crazyjim Posted April 26, 2011 Posted April 26, 2011 Your "pristine high gloss finish" build are fantastic, Wayne. I hope you don't give up on them.
1320wayne Posted April 27, 2011 Author Posted April 27, 2011 Your "pristine high gloss finish" build are fantastic, Wayne. I hope you don't give up on them. Thanks Jim. Even with what I can do with a shiny finish I've got a lot to learn still to keep up with a lot of other folks around here. But it's fun learning.
