outlaw427 Posted May 1, 2011 Posted May 1, 2011 (edited) I built this 8 sided round Display case for sum of my Nascar Builds. The sides are glass and one side is a door. The Shelves are clear plexi glass and the base has wheels and the case spins freely from the base. 10 Levels times 8 models per level = 80 Nascar Models under Glass. Cheer..Lui. Dr. Cranky Posted May 1, 2011 Posted May 1, 2011 Wow, that's a fabulous way of showcasing your builds. I love it. Very cool.

Terry Sumner Posted May 2, 2011 Posted May 2, 2011 (edited) You built 80 NASCAR models??? Wow...talk about repetition! Not much changing but for the decals??? Edited May 2, 2011 by Terry Sumner
lillakev Posted May 2, 2011 Posted May 2, 2011 When I was in high school I kept most of my models in a Timex watch display case. It was lighted, and rotated every so often. It was the envy of all my friends.
outlaw427 Posted May 2, 2011 Author Posted May 2, 2011 You built 80 NASCAR models??? Wow...talk about repetition! Not much changing but for the decals??? There's more than 80 Nascar models Terry...Lets just say I need to build two more Cases to house all my Nascar builds. I usually build two or three at the same time.

sjordan2 Posted May 2, 2011 Posted May 2, 2011 That is an EXCELLENT solution for someone who builds a lot of models. Well done.
Eshaver Posted May 2, 2011 Posted May 2, 2011 I'm not into Nascar, well past about 1966, still the case you built is KILLER !!!!! Ed Shaver
LAone Posted May 6, 2011 Posted May 6, 2011 wow, that is the best looking display case i have seen. will be waiting to see the others done. if i only had the time to build all the kits i have...
charlie8575 Posted May 7, 2011 Posted May 7, 2011 Great case. Do you have some other pictures close-up so we can see how it went together and/or some plans? I'd seriously consider building something very much like that, myself. Charlie Larkin
butchey Posted May 8, 2011 Posted May 8, 2011 YEA its Great lookin for sure what did yu use to hold the cars from fallin?
Ben Posted May 8, 2011 Posted May 8, 2011 Wait a minute.....we're supposed to finish these things and display them???? I thought the box they came in was where they stayed?
diymirage Posted May 8, 2011 Posted May 8, 2011 Wait a minute.....we're supposed to finish these things and display them???? I thought the box they came in was where they stayed? yes but not untill after we glue both the engine halves together
outlaw427 Posted May 11, 2011 Author Posted May 11, 2011 (edited) Wow...Thanks for the Compliments fellas. Just to answer a few of your questions. I don't have Plans on paper for this case but did build it from what i imagined i needed..and I used a round plexi tube In the middle and glued nine octagonal plexi plates to the tube and eight rectangle plexi shelves on each octagonal plates. Now that i got you dizzy... her's sum close-ups.. See...Round plexi tube in middle...Octagonal middle plate glued to tube and eight rectangle plexi shelves glued to octagonal middle. The two top shelves were melted and slanted downwards because they were at the 5 1/2 foot level. and the rest of the seven shelves were flat. The selves are exactly the same width of the models so that you can't see what's holdin them up. And...Staggered the shelves like a Christmas Tree so that the cars are not on top of each other so you can see them without the top shelf obstructing the bottom one... Hope this answers a few of your questions.. Cheers..Lui. Edited May 11, 2011 by outlaw427
