Foxer Posted May 3, 2011 Posted May 3, 2011 I find it upsetting that winners, or Voters Favorites from NNL's, are never posted. At least, I never can find them. I wonder who won trophies at the GSL XXIII? Did anyone place at MassCar 2011? How about NNL East? I visit sites at many of the contests I see posted and the sponsoring club rarely ever posts the results of what everyone enters for! What's going on here?
Erik Smith Posted May 3, 2011 Posted May 3, 2011 I have noticed magazines don't include pictures of award winning models also. They list the winners and when looking for the photos, they're not pictured. Seems like the "best" models should be fairly prominent.

Foxer Posted May 3, 2011 Author Posted May 3, 2011 You might want to ask them... Yeah, for sure! But the thought was just rambling in my hear AND many with involvement DO visit here.
Jon Cole Posted May 3, 2011 Posted May 3, 2011 Chris Moore awarded for his Jeep/Kaiser M715 @ the 2011 NNL EAST Don't know about anyone else.

Guest Posted May 3, 2011 Posted May 3, 2011 The Louisville Model Car Club (hosts of the Derby City Shootout and covered by Scale Auto) posts photos of the winners on their website. It usually takes them a little while, but they do post the winners fairly soon after the show.
Eric Stone Posted May 3, 2011 Posted May 3, 2011 As an entrant in the IPMS Houston contest this past weekend, I received an email thanking everyone for participating, and it stated they'll post a list of winners and photos of everyone’s entries at the website in a few days. Here's a sneak peek at what placed 2nd in the Commercial class (built by yours truly).
Art Laski Posted May 3, 2011 Posted May 3, 2011 (edited) The winning models are posted in the presentation on the GSL main page now. http://www.gslchampionship.org/ Edited May 3, 2011 by Art Laski
RodneyBad Posted May 3, 2011 Posted May 3, 2011 Chris Moore awarded for his Jeep/Kaiser M715 @ the 2011 NNL EAST WOW!! That is One Sweeeeeeeeeeeet Kaiser.
Pete J. Posted May 3, 2011 Posted May 3, 2011 The winning models are posted in the presentation on the GSL main page now. http://www.gslchampionship.org/ ...mmmmmm looks like the results from 2009.
Danno Posted May 3, 2011 Posted May 3, 2011 Hey, Pete! Did I see you with a win in there (this year)? Looked like your Porsche. Right? Congratulations!!
Jon Cole Posted May 3, 2011 Posted May 3, 2011 WOW!! That is One Sweeeeeeeeeeeet Kaiser. For a show that has no judges, just people’s choice, the odds of taking home an award at the NNL East are by far, slim. Personally, I have never even entertained the idea. And yet, my friend Chris... has done this twice! And for that, I congratulate him. He also won a people’s choice category a few years back with this... Chris posts occasionally over on Spotlight.
Art Laski Posted May 3, 2011 Posted May 3, 2011 ...mmmmmm looks like the results from 2009. Pete, I haven't checked it today, but last night the link at the top showed the 2011 winning cars with no names, but the link at the bottom with winner names was from '09.
Gregg Posted May 4, 2011 Posted May 4, 2011 I am redoing the web site photos as we speak to do just that. I include all the table shots, and some studio shots, and now will do new updates soon.
Darin Bastedo Posted May 4, 2011 Posted May 4, 2011 For the most part I really don't care which models win. I go to contests to get inspired and often times the ones that inspire me the most are not the winners. Then there are times when the winning model doesn't deserve it. I can say this because it happened to one of my models. This is my model that won 2nd place at the bays mountain show last year... And here are a bunch of models that in all fairness should have beat it... My model contain a bunch of mistakes and inaccuracies that had I been judging would have taken it right out of contention, but the judges were dazzled by the well done photoetch, including the key in the ignition on a scale key fob. I won because of the gotcha factor rather than skillful modeling. That happens sometimes.
jbwelda Posted May 6, 2011 Posted May 6, 2011 i think the problem with magazines showing the winners of shows or contests is mostly a logistics problem. in the cases i have seen, at a show/contest, the photographer scouts around the room during the show (but typically mostly early on) and leaves a card saying "please bring your model to the photo booth for a chance to be in our magazine". the builder may or may not see the card or may or may not choose to go stand in the line over at the photo booth to get their chance at the mag photo or choose to fill out the form describing the model. so only some percentage of those actually invited to get a photo shot show up to have it done. then also the person scouting the room may or may not have their eye caught by the model that eventually wins, and remember award ceremony is usually late in the day. so right afterward everyone is packing up to leave and so the photographer doesnt have a chance to really corner the winners and make sure hes got a photo. then when putting together the mag, the editors choose what to put in and there may or may not be photos of the winners plus space is limited and maybe other cars seem to fit better for whatever reason. thats my guess from some exposure to the trade as it were.
