qmhd Posted May 6, 2011 Posted May 6, 2011 (edited) Well, it's been a very looooong time since I haven't posted anything here After more than one year of inactivity I will start again carefully… or not… Here the small personal challenge that I launch out The base is the well-known red Ford 40 from Monogram Here is the program : - dropping the truck (well at least it should be done - using Boyd Coddington rims with low profile tires (from AMT Chevy Nomad). but is this enough? NO ! - small sectionning of the cabin and hood to lower the general lines - shortening the bed ? - and maybe a top chop - frenched headlights - barrel cover - etc. I made some assemblies using photoshop to make me an idea Excuse my English, I use an automatic translator because I lack practice Edited June 22, 2011 by qmhd
qmhd Posted May 6, 2011 Author Posted May 6, 2011 after a mockup - I dropped the top chop idea - On the other hand I wanted absolutely to try a sectionning (never den that before) thus it is by there that I attacked in-depth the Pick-up and cut in his metal flesh. - new mockup to see the new lines - I just don't know if I work on the size of the bed or leave it stock - I removed some louvers - I reworked the general lines of the grilles too - some light primer here to see the global result - lots of sanding to be done but it is not dramatic
evilone Posted May 6, 2011 Posted May 6, 2011 nice section job bro looks like it came factory that way lol
MikeMc Posted May 6, 2011 Posted May 6, 2011 (edited) Denis...this is going to turn out great!! I just did the same idea but to a 50....and used stock steel wheels. ...I love the look you have with the big wheel , section job, the long bed makes it even lower! I will watch this further, so keep up the great cutting!! and your English is quite understandable....better than some natives...... I also did a minor top chop along with the section Edited May 6, 2011 by Stasch
Foxer Posted May 7, 2011 Posted May 7, 2011 The sectioning has great proportions. The front grill treatment is fantastic ... so easy yet looks great!
qmhd Posted May 11, 2011 Author Posted May 11, 2011 small update here after hours sanding, filling, sanding and fine-tuning here is a new mock-up of the baby I still don't know what to do with the bumpers: no bumpers, stock version or maybe... comments more than welcome here !
Ryan S. Posted May 11, 2011 Posted May 11, 2011 I really like how this is looking. Great job on the sectioning and I love what you did to the front end and grill. I like the "bumperettes" in your last picture too. I like the look of the longer bed, but I feel like it needs to be sectioned too, to match the new belt-line on the cab. Just my thoughts, keep up the good work!
Nate Posted May 12, 2011 Posted May 12, 2011 Love the grill! I think it looks best with no bumpers, though.
MikeMc Posted May 12, 2011 Posted May 12, 2011 I was going to say some curved nerf bars......but the bumperettes doo look great. I don't think the box section would work...not enough room between the rails and fenders I sectioned the box and cab on this 32........I should of left the box alone... B)
qmhd Posted May 16, 2011 Author Posted May 16, 2011 I'd like to feed you with new photographs but I spent the last 3 evenings to catch up with some S##T after a strange reaction between white Tamiya Primer and the white Tamiya putty (first time that happen). Plastic was not touched too much. The putty was dry for several days but it has softened whereas it was already covered with a first shot of primer. I can't explain the reaction but had to start again at the sanding and filling step Here thus nothing to say moreover and nothing to show at this stage…
qmhd Posted June 2, 2011 Author Posted June 2, 2011 (edited) I think I'm done here I had some problems with the clear coat but the main job is done and I like it Edited June 2, 2011 by qmhd
crazyjim Posted June 2, 2011 Posted June 2, 2011 Fantastic build. I love how you did the grill and sectioning.
Modlbldr Posted June 2, 2011 Posted June 2, 2011 WOW! I like how this one turned out. I especially like the custom, yet simple grille change. Great work! Later-
