cherokeered Posted May 15, 2011 Posted May 15, 2011 (edited) I just finished a Tamiya 66 Bug. This kit went together really nice....Always like the detail and fit of Tamiya. I used wheels from a Revell C6 Corvette, lowered the suspension and built a custom stinger exhaust. I also added some carbon fiber accents to the engine. Edited May 15, 2011 by cherokeered
peter31a Posted May 16, 2011 Posted May 16, 2011 Don't know if it's Cal Look or German touring look but either way it's one fine Beetle. Great work!
Erik Smith Posted May 16, 2011 Posted May 16, 2011 Don't know if it's Cal Look or German touring look but either way it's one fine Beetle. Great work! Looks great - I like models that are hard to categorize! Nice combination of wheels and paint and the carbon fiber decals are cool in the engine compartment.
VW Dave Posted May 16, 2011 Posted May 16, 2011 I like it a bunch! A nice blend of German look and resto, and the carbon fiber is a nice touch too. The left rear tire is on backwards, however....
northendmetalallstar Posted May 16, 2011 Posted May 16, 2011 That is awesome! I have to get one of those kits.
BigEdsGarage Posted May 16, 2011 Posted May 16, 2011 Very cool! Nice color for a bug too. I definitely need to get one of those kits myself.
Tony T Posted May 16, 2011 Posted May 16, 2011 That is one kit I've been wanting to get...nicely done!

trey allen Posted May 16, 2011 Posted May 16, 2011 Better replace that single port engine with something bigger!
charlie8575 Posted May 17, 2011 Posted May 17, 2011 Nice build. What color did you use? Charlie Larkin
cherokeered Posted May 17, 2011 Author Posted May 17, 2011 Nice build. What color did you use? Charlie Larkin Thanks! I just used a Valspar rattle can paint I found at Walmart....it was called Exotic Sea. Couldn't find anything close to it in Testors or Tamiya so I went with the Valspar. It came out ok. Still some orange peel even after clearing and wetsanding/polishing but not that bad.
