Here the doors have been thinned down to a more scale thicnkness. as you can see the doors fit perfect now, this was a problem I thought I was gonna have to address another way but it turned out ok I should have another update tonight stay tuned!!
Romell R Posted January 24, 2012 Author Posted January 24, 2012 ok heres the next update like I promised ya , im working on skinning the inside of the door. Im also considering a working latch. What do you think? this inside will be raw aluminum ofcourse drilled out for weight reduction. See ya on the next update
W-409 Posted January 24, 2012 Posted January 24, 2012 YeeHaw, nice to see this Pro Mod Daytona back on the bench. Good work with those doors, and engine detailing is truly amazing. Keep it going, I'll keep watching this one.
Guest Sickfish Posted January 24, 2012 Posted January 24, 2012 General Rom'! Great to see you back on this absolute BEAST!! Doors look awesome! With all the detail you've added so far I guess you might as well add the latches... I'd be disappointed if you didn't.... NOT! Seriously though... Look's like they're going to be poseable, open or closed, so you'd probably need the latches to be seen in the open position ;-) Cheers & keep up the awesome work brother! Cliffo :-)

Prostreet Posted January 27, 2012 Posted January 27, 2012 Nice work on the latch Rom, simple but affective. All these wroking door latches around here are gonna make me do them on mine now.
MadKaw6 Posted January 28, 2012 Posted January 28, 2012 Nice work. I'm always awed by anyone that can work with brass.
Magic Photos Posted January 28, 2012 Posted January 28, 2012 Great work I too am glad this is back door is killer and the fire bottles wow. Mike Garland
Romell R Posted January 28, 2012 Author Posted January 28, 2012 Thanks go out to: Tyrone "the master of the promod build" Rick : Thx man! Joe get those latches on your build Bro. Frank: I was pretty awed myself Mike: Im glad you like the bottles so I was able to get the doors hung today which puts me a lil closer to get the paint on the body. heres the process to making the hinges. I started with brass wire , a piece of copper tube that fit snugly over the wire and a piece of square brass tube that just fits over the copper tube. heres how it all fit together be right backwith how the door hangs.......Dont go away!
Romell R Posted January 28, 2012 Author Posted January 28, 2012 ok heres the door on the new hinges. the handle is a lil big but I'll take care of that before final assembly, I hope you enjoyed this update cya soon !!
Pro Tech Posted January 28, 2012 Posted January 28, 2012 Looking good Rom, makes me want to grab that handle and jump in. Charlie Pro Tech
tyrone Posted January 29, 2012 Posted January 29, 2012 Great job on the doors Rommell......keep them pics coming bro....
eviltwincustoms Posted January 29, 2012 Posted January 29, 2012 Cool little idea you have their... Only issue I see is the hinge is suppose to be in front of the build out of your door panel not on it. You need to put your hinge off of the chassis further forward. If you make that minor adjustment you should be fine.
Romell R Posted January 29, 2012 Author Posted January 29, 2012 Cool little idea you have their... If you make that minor adjustment you should be fine. Thx fellas for the compliments.... Bart the hing is not actually on the door build it's on a bar built to give the hinges a even surface to attach to which is out in front of the panels that were made for the doors, I know in the pics it does look how you decribed them, Thx for the keen eye. as you can see here the hinges are not on the panel build but on a seperate build so the hinges will sit even.
MadKaw6 Posted January 29, 2012 Posted January 29, 2012 I don't know if anybody helped you with the passenger door latch yet, but here's a couple pictures I took of Pat Musi's car yesterday at Bradenton. It's the first chance I've had to see pro mod cars live other than on TV. I'm still a funny car guy, but those pro mods are awesome. Most of ttem had latches on both doors.
