This is great build, and I'm glad to see, you're getting back to it. '70 Cuda looks much better than '71, I think. Can't wait to see more of this build, hope you're going to make some progress with it now. :D;):P

Thanks for the encouragement guys! I generally have no more than two projects on the bench at any given time. When I finish another build, this one is coming back up onto the bench.

Ya! I have been trying to get "MY FIX" for modeling and shring idea's with everyone since my computer crashed! lol! Then I found this site! It was a lil hard for awhile because whenever I was working on models I always had SA up!

Still working on my Phanton 71 HEMI Cuda, My HEMI EXPRESS, 2 77/78 Dodge 4x4 trucks, the 340 "SHAKER" 70 Challenger and about 5 others right now. MOstly concentrating on a Lil Red Express I am scratch building a 4x4 suspension for.

I miss looking for your builds, as you seem to build the same kind of cars i do! lol! And your stories that go along with the builds!!!!!!

Darrick, I could never have that many projects going at once. It seems that the older I get, the more confused I could become!

Skip, I keep it at two projects and that's that! When one is drying, I can work on the other. If I don't want to work on one, the other is there to be worked on. I just wish I had more time during the week to build.

Mike,

Excellent job on the Cudas.

I've recently added a couple of B body Mopars to my "rebuild" list, but I don't know one Cuda from another, so this thread will be very helpful to me.

Being a GM guy, Mopars are way out of my comfort zone

I would like to see a Cuda/Challenger history thread. It seems there were many versions of both cars, and from what I've read over the years, most model kits aren't accurate.

Cheers, Ian

Ian, sometimes we need to step outside of our comfort zone. Just take the time to do some research on your subject and ask questions. You don't necessarily have to be an expert on the subject just to build a nice looking model.

BTW, this one is back on the bench. Progress real soon!

YEE-HAAAAAAAA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I just got finished watching The Dukes of Hazzard so I had to get that out, and hearing you say that this was back was the perfect occasion.

With the Hemi 'Cuda back on the bench, it was time to start working on it again. This morning I finished the interior.

I finally found a fan belt setup with a power steering pump for the Hemi. No more power by armstrong!

woohoo! , that looks awesome . Did you paint the exhaust manifolds flat white? , or did you leave them unpainted

Thanks guys!

mIKE,

I love it. The interior is simple, yet functional :) Where did you get the fan/pully system?

I got it in a trade in a box of assorted parts and pieces.

I left the headers unpainted since they looked to be painted flat white anyway.

Thanks Brandon. I was told by my Mopar expert that the instrument panel should not have woodgrain on it. I wanted the woodgrain to break up all of the black on the dash.

Well, it is 17 degrees and windy outside, I am suffering through with a head cold and feeling quite miserable, so I buried myself in the model cave with a box of tissues, a heater and continued working on the Hemi 'Cuda this afternoon. I got the body foiled, grille painted, but not fully detailed, and the rear panel foiled and painted.

Yeah, this cold is taking forever to go away and I just hate being miserable. Plus, I still have to go to work everyday! When I think I am starting to feel better...I feel worse the following day!

I wanted to install the taillights and have them sit flush and not look uneven in the tail panel. My solution was to add a backer behind the opening made from some scrap styrene so the taillights would have some surface to be mounted to.

From the inside...

It's off to the paintbooth for some clearcoat!

The body has been clearcoated with Tamiya TS-13 Gloss Clear.

And, as usual I forgot something. Something being the door mirrors this time.
