whale392 Posted June 6, 2011 Posted June 6, 2011 Not to shoot you in the foot Brandon, but if all of your steel wheel castings come with pinholes that remove sections of the wheel bead, I don't see you selling too many of them. Quality control and visual appeal are two of the biggest areas that must demand your attention (quality control extends to customer service as well).
Mr. Moparman Posted June 6, 2011 Author Posted June 6, 2011 (edited) I try my best but Im no pro, I try my very best to make sure my castings have little to no pinholes, but one thing I can not profect that on my 727 Tranny, I dont have the money to buy a pressure pot, so I have no choice but to gravity cast. I throw away all castings that have pinholes pretty much everywhere in them. I swear that most of my wheel castings dont have pinholes. Thanks, Brandon Edited June 6, 2011 by Master Modeller

As a potential customer, I am merely giving you an insight into what a customer looks for when considering a purchase. Your other thread (asking for casting advice) shows a lot about you and speaks volumes as to you wanting to get better. Keep at it, and I am sure you will grow!

Scale-Master Posted June 6, 2011 Posted June 6, 2011 Brandon, I have an observation, and I mean this in the most polite way possible, but offering a product for sale with a caveat of "Please don't buy and bash the quality, consider this fair warning." is not a really good way to start a business. (Quote taken from the Confederate site.) Is that a way of saying you are selling a poor quality item and it is the buyers problem if they don’t like it? Not a great business model in my opinion. I get that you are being up front about not being a professional caster, but as soon as you offer a product for sale, you undertake a certain responsibility. May I suggest you take a little more time to hone your casting skills a bit further and offer a higher quality part in the future? Good luck with your venture.

As somebody said in my "What Makes Up a Good Resin Caster" thread, I must have good customer service for my business to survive. I have removed that statement from the site and will have a return policy going up soon. It will state that in the case of defective products (IE, Way too many pinholes, too large of pinholes, etc..) can be submitted and a new product of same value will be sent with no cost to the complaintiff.

Lunajammer Posted June 9, 2011 Posted June 9, 2011 Brandon I commend your effort. You've listened to some hard but truthful comments like a professional. If I were you, I'd start selling my early, lower quality castings locally; clubs, friends, shows, etc. The buyer gets to see first hand what they are buying and you get to negotiate a price that is satisfactory to both. You start squirreling away the money you need to improve your set up, then start selling from a distance. I'd be furious if bought one of your offerings and important details are gone due to air bubbles. It's sort of taking advantage of their trust in you so you can make money. However, you'd be surprised how forgiving people will be of your castings if they just get to hold it in their hands before deciding what it's worth to them.

There is no clubs or shows within a 50 to 100 mile radius of here (Im under 18, not easy to get around.) I will possibly order in the future, I say possibly because I'm not a big Mopar fan but I will be building some down the road.
