cherokeered Posted June 8, 2011 Posted June 8, 2011 Just wondering what to use for Fuel or Brake lines? I'm assuming maybe a beading wire? If so what size or gauge?
highway Posted June 8, 2011 Posted June 8, 2011 As long as the wire is smooth and stiff to hold the shape, that would work. I forget what the size of the wire I seen at Michael's was that would been good for those details, but for some reason 24 gauge comes to mind. Keep in mind, the size of the wire gauge is the same as model scale, the larger the number, the smaller the wire.
diymirage Posted June 9, 2011 Posted June 9, 2011 one of my favorite builders here is crazyjim and this is his camaro he used fishing line for the fuel lines and i loves em
crazyjim Posted June 9, 2011 Posted June 9, 2011 Thank you Eelco. Appreciate your comment. Fishing line came from Wal-Mart. It's 30 pound test line and I've been able to find it in clear and a clear red. I've also used hard line from Scale Dreams that comes in variety of colors; beading wire from Michaels and/or Hobby Lobby; and Evergreen rod.
David G. Posted June 9, 2011 Posted June 9, 2011 I've also used the steel wire from garbage bag twist ties. After stripping off the plastic coating, the wire inside is about the right scale for brake and fuel lines and has a nice metallic look. David G.
