GTMust Posted June 11, 2011 Posted June 11, 2011 Back in the 1970's, I built this Pyro 1912 Packard Touring in 1/32 scale: It was built OOB and painted red. Sometime last year, I came across this picture and was inspired to build the model again, but this time with the top down and in the grey/black color scheme. So here it is, together with the original top up version from the seventies: Hope you like these 1/32 scale models of yesteryear.
Chuck Most Posted June 11, 2011 Posted June 11, 2011 I do like them, especially when somebody takes the time to build them this well. Never built a 1:32 Pyro kit, I do have the Minicraft '10 Packard kit laying around somewhere though.
bbowser Posted June 11, 2011 Posted June 11, 2011 These are very cool. I find as I get older I'm being drawn more and more to earlier cars, such as the 'brass era' instead of the 50's-60's.
Foxer Posted June 11, 2011 Posted June 11, 2011 These are very nice! I'd never guess 1/32 without being told!
charlie8575 Posted June 11, 2011 Posted June 11, 2011 I need to dig mine out and build those. They're such neat little kits. Great job, Tony. Charlie Larkin
sjordan2 Posted June 11, 2011 Posted June 11, 2011 Man, you've really got these little Pyro kits down. You wouldn't know they're 1/32 just by looking. Too bad Pyro had such struggles making larger scale kits. Of course, brass-era cars may be a bit more forgiving in terms of strict accuracy, but these look dead on.
Jim Gibbons Posted June 12, 2011 Posted June 12, 2011 Beautiful job on both! I really enjoy these Pyro kits.
GTMust Posted June 12, 2011 Author Posted June 12, 2011 Thanks guys.... I really appreciate the comments. There aren't many of these kits left around and the prices on Ebay are getting ridiculous! Fortunately I have built up a stash over the years when the prices were more reasonable and I have enough (do we ever have enough?) to do some variations on the basic kits. I particularly like the early race cars from the 1900's which make very interesting scratchbuild subjects.
