I don't see a Challenger (I think it's a Satellite, or a GTX or Road Runner), but yeah, I'd drive any one of them. You could have a Hummer stuck under your bumper and never even realize it!

A few nights ago, I was watching 'World's Dumbest' on True TV (what can I say? Frank Stallone and Danny Bonaduce entertain me to no end....) and one of the things they showed was a cab over semi tractor pushing a car down the highway. Apparently, the driver had been merging onto the road, and was hit by the semi, and the semi driver didn't even notice. He pushed the car sideways down the highway for quite a distance (and at what looked to be a considerably high rate of speed ;) ) until another motorist signaled him and he found out he was PUSHING A FREAKIN' CAR DOWN THE HIGHWAY!!!! :D

Did you find any information on what those vehicles are for on the site where you found the photos?

I don't know about what they're sitting on, but the big rig looking truck is an early 80s? Dodge pickup cab, the first one on the trailer is a mid to late 70s Chevy van, and as was mentioned earlier here, the car looks to be an early 70s Satellite, GTX, or Road Runner.

Ok, that takes care of the "what."

Now explain the "why?" B)

"Well... I got sick of losing my silver '03 Taurus in the parking lot with all the other silver Tauruses, so I figured I needed something that stood out a little bit better..."

Chuck- I have seen that video... and it is amazing that someone could hit a car, pushing it down the road without even being aware!

I just want to know how that rolling freak show is still allowed on the roads, are Ohio's laws even looser than Illinois?

Did the H.P in H.P. Lovecraft stand for horsepower? :D

It stood for Howard Phillip. H.P. Lovecraft was one of america's TOP horror writers, even outdoing E.A.Poe. His Cthulhu Mythos was the basis for an entire format of horror stories. There's only been a few of his stories ever translated to the screen, but those are pretty crazy all on their own too. Man, two of my favorite subjects in one thread, Models AND H.P. Lovecraft. By the way Lo-Lo, that's a pretty appropriate name for a monster like that!!!!!:D:P;)

Got an engine? Check.

Got a drivetrain? Check.

Got tires, or something closely resembling tires at some time in their life? Check.

Got a steering wheel? Check.

Got a seat? Check.

You have just passed an Ohio state inspection, and since they DON'T have required state inspections, you pass anyway!!:blink:

I knew that; I have a number of his books. He and August Derleth are among my favorite horror writers. If you want to see some great illustrations for Weird Tales and other related pulps, look up Virgil Finlay. When I saw the topic heading with Cthulhu in it, I couldn't resist with the H.P. reference! ;)

Oh Yeah, Jim, I have ALL of H.P's stories. About 200 in total, he was a man before his time. That Crazy Cart that Lo-Lo posted IS a monster lookin thingie, so it fit! Wonder how many Mope guys cried when they saw that B body SOOOO far up there!!!!! Good Ol OhiO!!!!B):PB);)

Actually I like the Plymouth more than the tamer "car on a 4x4 frame" examples you normally see locally- If you're going to go tacky might as well go all out :P

Judging from the fact it looks like not much finish bodywork was done (doubt that anyone took the time to remove moldings and fill in the holes before paint) and that the quarter windows would probably be down or removed if not a fixed installation the car most likely started life as a base '72 Satellite coupe (with a mismatched drivers fender if not other pieces from a '71)- not normally a vehicle worth a restoration or demanding preservation for its historical significance even to a die hard Mopar fan
