noname Posted July 3, 2011 Posted July 3, 2011 Hello there. Haven't posted anything here for a while as I had been exploring military modeling and whatnot. Lot to learn there, I'd suggest it to anyone. I did get this Altered recently completed. going for an early 60's low buck Altered. You know, spend the money on the engine and the body can wait kinda thing. Alot of scratchbuilding and that's all I'll say for now. I hope you get a kick out of it.
Mooneyzs Posted July 3, 2011 Posted July 3, 2011 Wow... This is a great looking Ride. You did an awesome job on this. Great job man!
Terry Sumner Posted July 4, 2011 Posted July 4, 2011 Love it. So glad you didn't call it a gasser just because the front end is raised!
Sixties Sam Posted July 5, 2011 Posted July 5, 2011 Nice build! I like the concept of a low budget racer. Paint won't make it go faster! Good work! Sam
noname Posted July 5, 2011 Author Posted July 5, 2011 (edited) Thanks guys. It is important to me that a drag car be labelled right and have period correct parts. That is what makes it fun. Edited July 5, 2011 by noname
6bblbird Posted July 5, 2011 Posted July 5, 2011 Thanks guys. It is important to me that a drag car be labelled right and have period correct parts. That is what makes it fun. I can absolutely appreciate a vintage drag car that is done correctly. Great detail throughout. I especially like the STP decal (every car had one of them!) and the class lettering! Front steel wheels and whitewalls look great. WF
noname Posted July 6, 2011 Author Posted July 6, 2011 Thanks Gasser 59. 6bblBird, if anyone would know it would be you. You've probably done more research on this stuff than anyone else. I appreciate the help you've given in the past.
W-409 Posted July 6, 2011 Posted July 6, 2011 Old School IS Cool! Great job with this Altered! I like seeing these, the Golden Era of DragRacing. Budget racer idea is also great, and model is built very nicely. Rust looks very realistic, and yellow paint fits nicely to the body. Detailing is great, and I love the stance of it. Nothing to complaine, it's very beautiful model. Makes me building something same styled from my '32 Ford... Let's see.
noname Posted July 6, 2011 Author Posted July 6, 2011 Thanks for the compliment W-409. Wouldn't a W head motor look nice in one of these things.
coolplastic Posted July 9, 2011 Posted July 9, 2011 Super cool - Matt quick question what kit are those headers from?
noname Posted July 11, 2011 Author Posted July 11, 2011 Coolplastic, I made the headers. The header flanges came from an old Revell parts pack 283 kit that were sanded thinner. Then I just used some styrene rod. I have made the flanges before but using these were easier.
