Irvin Arter Jr. Posted April 17, 2007 Posted April 17, 2007 I picked up one of Modelhaus's 1950 Cadillacs and WOW nice casting. I am doing a mild Kustom so I shaved off the usual stuff to make it smooth. Doors, emblems, back up lights, smoothed the hood and filled in the slot for the hood slot. The kit comes with the solid axles molded into the resin so I knocked them out and dropped the whole car down @ 1/8". I am using HOK PBC4002 Violette pearl with white base, airbrushed and clear coated with PPG clear. Then I will wet sand the whole car and reapply a real wet thin coat of clear. Here is the color Here you can see my new axle holes it's gonna be looooowwww. Also you can see I painted the wheel edge red. Still need to do the center caps
Irvin Arter Jr. Posted April 17, 2007 Author Posted April 17, 2007 Here are some color shots. Just started to wet sand the body

Irvin Arter Jr. Posted April 17, 2007 Author Posted April 17, 2007 He just came out with this car this year. I got mine at NNL East. I think it was around 80 bucks. I think this is one of his best castings to date. I was really impressed with it.
MrObsessive Posted April 17, 2007 Posted April 17, 2007 that caddy is[]awsome when did it came out and how much? i've got to get one soon. 8) Hi Ted! I believe it's been out for a month or two..........Don lists it for $88 in his catalog. I saw it up close and personal at the NNL East and it's a beautiful casting! The body was mastered by Paul Hettick aka Robbbbbb57 on eBay, so you know it's well done! Irv, you never fail to impress! Another show winner for sure! 8)
Steve H. Posted April 17, 2007 Posted April 17, 2007 Thats a beautiful Beast! Who knew a 2 ton + car could look that slinky? The casting looks to be of the usual, superb quality that Modelhaus is famous for, which is why they're first on my list to go to!
cruz Posted April 17, 2007 Posted April 17, 2007 You said at the NNL you were gonna start on that one soon, it's just one of those models that you have to attack quick, like always nice, and the "RAKE"  8) 8) WOW!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
SteveG Posted April 18, 2007 Posted April 18, 2007 Irv, I really like where you are going with this one ! .... Still, a part of me wonders how it would look with some 20's and the famous "ARTER RAKE" -Steve
1320wayne Posted April 18, 2007 Posted April 18, 2007 Wow!!!!!!!! That looks great. I can't wait to see what this one will look like when it's finished.
stevehansen Posted April 21, 2007 Posted April 21, 2007 That is a really cool sled, make me want to take a break from Ferrari's. Love that color
455 Rocket Posted April 21, 2007 Posted April 21, 2007 I always loved these Caddie's. Here's a link to a friend of mine's website. He's been building Kustoms for years. Maybe it will give you guys some ideas. http://www.johndagostinokustomkars.com/showcars.htm
Modelmartin Posted April 23, 2007 Posted April 23, 2007 That is a very cool kit and model you are building. Jimmy Flintstone will have a 51 coupe de ville later this year. It is very similar but will have Dagmars on the front bumpers.
Mark C. Posted April 26, 2007 Posted April 26, 2007 Nice job on the Caddy! I think this is the perfect application for this kit, especially since it looks like it has a mild top chop right out of the box. Looking forward to more progress pics!
