For some reason, I've always loved the looks of a Citroen... Dunno why, I guess they're so ugly that they're cute! :D Thanks for the link and the pictures, Luc.

I agree, it so cute, what is there not to like about it. I am in for at least one Citroen.

The Audi, boring. Sorry chaps, but it's just boring.

I'm just starting to build Tamiya's 2cv, the Revell version looks like a later model than the Tamiya version, so I've got to get one of these, thanks for the post.

I like the 2CV, but with a nice Heller/Airfix kit, and an even nicer Tamiya kit already out there, I'm not sure why a new tool of this subject was necessary. Yes, it's a newer version but I'm not sure the world needed another all-new tool of that one...

I guess it's probably to do with Revell's "local market". The 2CV is as iconic a car this side of the pond as the Beetle or the Mini, and neither the Tamiya kit nor the Heller are easy to come by. The Tamiya is £25 and not stocked widely; the Heller is out of production (and not coming back any time soon, since Heller effectively went bust, and are only slowly stepping back into the market with some 1/48 aircraft and 1/35 armour reissues) and not common on eBay, even in ghastly Airfix boxings. The Revell kit will be £15 or so, and widely available across Europe. Revell Germany has always done "popular" cars as well as supercars (Trabant, anyone?) and I think this is squarely in that bracket... They must sell, or else they wouldn't keep making them!

Mind you, I'll have the Audi instead... the Mini is the only iconic small European car that I need - I'm a chauvinist, I'll admit...

bestest,

M.

From what I can see, the Revell 2CV looks as good as the Tamiya kit and also offers the roll-back roof option as does Tamiya, and I don't see that in the Heller kit. Wherever and however you get it, there are some good choices here.

The way I do this stuff, I buy both types of kits and put together whatever is done better by the two manufacturers. For example, in the 1/16 Mercedes kits by Minicraft and Italeri, both have their strengths and weaknesses, and I am currently expending a lot of labor to determine what parts I should rob from one for another, and which I should use as the main subject.
