Mj-Styro Posted April 19, 2007 Posted April 19, 2007 Pulled this back out couple weeks ago. Re-did the rear tailgate and taillites (from 66 Chevelle wagon kit) Had to narrow the gate down alittle to get it to fit.
twotonegmc Posted April 19, 2007 Posted April 19, 2007 Wow..that looks great. Is the whole thing scratchbuilt or is that a resin kit? If you did it....
mhadman Posted April 19, 2007 Posted April 19, 2007 I have been following this...Nice work..My brother owned a 69 Vista Cruiser ..Brown with woodgrain sides.. whats your plans for this..Factory stock?
455 Rocket Posted April 19, 2007 Posted April 19, 2007 I can't wait to see this done! I think I'd make it a mild custom. A 455 and some 17" wheels! Looks great!
Guest roadkill2525 Posted April 19, 2007 Posted April 19, 2007 I like what Red said about the Vista Cruiser on That 70's Show. "How could anybody miss it, its a cruise ship with wood paneling." Im a big station wagon person but this hasn't caught my eye like the Buick Sportwagon. What kind of look are you going to give it?
sno_man80 Posted April 20, 2007 Posted April 20, 2007 The 455 idea, good idea, but please what ever you do, stay away from the 17" wheels! Go stock on the wheels, this isn't a ghetto car! Looking good so far, keep us updated.
455 Rocket Posted April 20, 2007 Posted April 20, 2007 The only reason I mentioned the 17" is that they don't look ghetto on this particular year. The original 14"ers look way too small. Over the summer I saw a guy that had 17's on his 67 442 and they filled the wheel wells quite nicely. He did not have some rubber band tires; they were some large 50's or 60's series tires. I know if I put these on my 64 I'm building it would look terrible as the wheel wheels are a lot smaller than on the 66-67 models.
sno_man80 Posted April 20, 2007 Posted April 20, 2007 Well, I appreciate the explination to the 17 inchers, in my opinion its getting sickening on how people are putting these huge rims and low pro tires on everything! I can understand filling out the wells better, by using them as well as a normal tire on them.
Steve H. Posted April 21, 2007 Posted April 21, 2007 Nice work! I'm a model kit dummy... Is this a conversion? Resin? If its a conversion, you should seriously consider making a mold of it! I love oddball wagons and that would definitely be an addition to my stash!
Jeff Johnston Posted April 22, 2007 Posted April 22, 2007 Keep the pics coming MJ. This is such a cool project...I can not wait to see what color you decide to paint it.
steelerdan43 Posted April 22, 2007 Posted April 22, 2007 Very nice and quite unique. Goes along well with the current fad of wagon cruisers in the custom car culture
Ayatollah Posted April 23, 2007 Posted April 23, 2007 Yes, I BEG you, please, no bling! It looks so good. Steelies, or even era-correct mags..... but the bling would kill it!
Harold Posted May 2, 2007 Posted May 2, 2007 This is too cool- Dad bought one new in '65 and drove it for four years. One of the coolest wagons ever made. Most of them came with the 330 Olds small block, and they were screamers. I should know- I had a '64 F-85 two door sedan that had the 330 with a quadrajet. It looked like a schoolteacher's car, and I could dust people at the stoplight. Kepp us posted on your Olds.
