george 53 Posted July 16, 2011 Posted July 16, 2011 It looks like a Chrysler version of John Cash's "Welfare Cadillac"
Romell R Posted July 16, 2011 Posted July 16, 2011 (edited) Whoa!! I see a 1940's Mercedes front end, A 1972 beetle rear end mated to a 56 Buick 225, my grandmothers old sewing room drapes on the interior, and I cant tell you what the drivers compartment is. I wonder which end the motor is in ? man I'm all confused Edited July 16, 2011 by Aftashox
whale392 Posted July 16, 2011 Posted July 16, 2011 (edited) Where's the Buick 225 in this, Romell? I see Chrysler 300 Letter car flanks and tail-lights, but no 225 stuff. Maybe the front fenders? (Nope, front is a Mercedes, and the sides between front fenders and rear quarters look to be either Comet or Falcon goods) Edited July 16, 2011 by whale392

Darin Bastedo Posted July 17, 2011 Posted July 17, 2011 They car is call the "anycar" it was created for an ad campaign. here are a few more shots of it.
ChrisR Posted July 17, 2011 Posted July 17, 2011 The third picture shows the car in its South African colour scheme (Wesbank is a local vehicle finance bank). I can remember seeing in real life many years ago. Wonder what happened to it?

Joe Handley Posted July 18, 2011 Posted July 18, 2011 Ah the wonders of photoshop, at least then no longer does a car have to die to create what can be made digitally
Junkman Posted July 19, 2011 Posted July 19, 2011 The Anycar was built by none other than Gene Winfield and parts of 22 cars were used. It starred in commercials for the Hanover Bank promoting auto loans for 'any car'. The ads should be on youtube. To my knowledge, the car is alive and well and resides in a private collection of TV/Movie cars in England.
mr cheap Posted July 19, 2011 Posted July 19, 2011 when i was a kid i tryed this ..but i never finshed it wow
High octane Posted July 20, 2011 Posted July 20, 2011 I think that it is listed in the Revell catalog and is due out in the fourth quarter. Be sure to check with your LHS.
Harold Posted July 20, 2011 Posted July 20, 2011 VW body, '57 Chrysler rear quarters, '64- '65 Falcon doors, Mark IV grille. It looks like it was built around a Falcon, because in the link photo you can see a Falcon dashboard. That body type, with an open driver's compartment and the closed passenger area is the actual true definition of a town car. Also, Buick didn't use the 225 suffix 'til 59.
