Scale-Master Posted July 23, 2011 Posted July 23, 2011 The body was defective and needed quite a bit of filler. I didn’t fix it 100%, but it is much better, hopefully they are not all like that… Lime Pearl over Bright Green base, Tamiya paints. Custom decals… It is actually a 1/64 Matchbox.
gasman Posted July 23, 2011 Posted July 23, 2011 I haven't been able to find one of that casting that hasn't had some kind of a flaw in it. Matchbox also incorrectly calls it a 71 (its actually a 72).

(which is clearly not a '72 pattern)... Like anyone can see it... while it is assembeled... The left rear fender lip... is probably the worst part I see... I hope I don't get the thread locked... for pointing out that flaw to everyone... including the builder... Oh look... I didn't even get an additional post counted... and I didn't bump the thread by posting as an edit... to something I could have responded to before... but forgot too... maybe intentionally... Captain out... Edited July 23, 2011 by Scale-Master

Danno Posted July 23, 2011 Posted July 23, 2011 That would be a nice build ... but it's the wrong scale ... and the wrong color ... and it doesn't have stars and bars on the roof ... and someone else should have built it. Otherwise, it's awesome! The best ev-urr. Dude.

"Outta the box", they came with it. I did paint them. They look like a generic composite of Pontiac and Buick five spoke Rallye type wheels but they have three "tangs" sticking out around the center. Too bad, without those things they be really nice. Still a better option than the toylike HW wheels, and easy to find if I am thinking what you might be pondering...
Chuck Most Posted July 24, 2011 Posted July 24, 2011 I'm not into rebuilding the Hot Wheels/Matchbox cars (yet), but I love seeing them given the modeler's touch. That and I like to see non-Trans Am Pontiac F-Bodies (no 'screaming chicken', no problem for me), so it's a winner in my book.

I've seen those on all sorts of Matchbox cars- I thought they were supposed to be some kind of Torq Thrust or something with a spinner cap (the three 'tangs'). This'n looks good. What kind of primer do you use on the bodies when you do these?
