Scale-Master Posted July 25, 2011 Posted July 25, 2011 (edited) The kit decals had been water damaged, but I was able to soak most of them off the paper and use them. Sometimes it took almost an hour for them to release, with a little prodding. The base color is a gray I mixed with Testors enamels. The C/F and Honda decals are from the kit. Some of the decals were just too well ingrained with the paper and unusable, but fortunately I had a partial sheet that contained those most of those elements. Interestingly the color was different between the sheets, but that worked to my advantage since I am going for a semi-distressed/used look. The Kevlar decals are from Studio 27. After the composite material decals were applied I tinted them, (and the gray), by airbrushing Smoke to accentuate some of the shapes and recesses. The chrome fasteners are BMF, except for the ones on the fuel filler, just hand painted silver for them… Edited July 29, 2011 by Scale-Master
Scale-Master Posted July 27, 2011 Author Posted July 27, 2011 More decals and some painting… and some sub-assemblies. Front fairing now has driving and HID headlights. Mesh grille was replaced with a coarser pattern. Gauge cluster is ready for installation… Seat is done and installed, same mesh used here too. Inner rear fender was textured, BMF for the fasteners.
Scale-Master Posted July 27, 2011 Author Posted July 27, 2011 It's the NR 500 "Oval Piston" street bike derived from the Honda race machine. The custom aspects will be mild and based on actual feasible mechanicals. I don't need comments to share... But thanks for 'em just the same guys.
LAone Posted July 27, 2011 Posted July 27, 2011 ooh nice work man. im liking the way it's looking. i like that, no comments needed for posting. i totally agree with you.
Romell R Posted July 27, 2011 Posted July 27, 2011 Very nice Mark makes me want to pull out the Ducati Desmodeci ive had shelved for a couple years, keep up the excellent work.
Scale-Master Posted July 28, 2011 Author Posted July 28, 2011 Drilled out the front rotors, 174 holes if I counted correctly. Painted the chain and other components, did some assembly...
justin2020 Posted July 28, 2011 Posted July 28, 2011 More please. This is one stealthy bike. Looks outstanding!
Scale-Master Posted July 29, 2011 Author Posted July 29, 2011 The frame is mostly painted and almost ready to have sub-assemblies built on to it. The front fork/wheel assembly is ready to be installed; the rotors received a final dry brushing of silver to lighten them up more consistent with the graphite I was going for. The rear swing arm is ready for installation… The engine is coming along but needs more paint work and building…
Scale-Master Posted July 29, 2011 Author Posted July 29, 2011 Engine is ready to go into the frame… And is in the frame…
Scale-Master Posted July 30, 2011 Author Posted July 30, 2011 Mirrors are done. Made the reflective faces…
Harry P. Posted July 30, 2011 Posted July 30, 2011 The washes add a lot. Subtle but they really add dimension and realism. Nice work! Even every single chain rivet detail painted... now that's dedication!
Danno Posted July 30, 2011 Posted July 30, 2011 That's really super, Mark. But where are the other two wheels/tires? "AWESOME"
LAone Posted July 30, 2011 Posted July 30, 2011 wow, this bike looks killer bro. im liking all the details. simple yet effective.
Steve Keck Posted July 30, 2011 Posted July 30, 2011 What color did you use (See the gauge cluster picture above) that produced the multi-colored glitter effect?
Harry P. Posted July 30, 2011 Posted July 30, 2011 What color did you use (See the gauge cluster picture above) that produced the multi-colored glitter effect? That "multi-color glitter effect" is a CF decal, I assume.
Scale-Master Posted July 31, 2011 Author Posted July 31, 2011 What color did you use (See the gauge cluster picture above) that produced the multi-colored glitter effect? It is gunmetal gray that has been dull coated on that part..
Steve Keck Posted July 31, 2011 Posted July 31, 2011 It is gunmetal gray that has been dull coated on that part.. I think your Dullcote is out of date. At least its not carbon fiber decal. No carbon fiber should look like that. I really like the way this build is coming together. It reeks of understated aggression; just no nonsense purpose driven tactical finishes.
Romell R Posted July 31, 2011 Posted July 31, 2011 I just wanted to let you know someone knocked over you bike in the drive way. And when are you gonna show the pics of this build you been goin on about ?
Scale-Master Posted August 2, 2011 Author Posted August 2, 2011 The license plate just needs to dry before installing. I made this one with raised lettering; the reflective clear I used does not photograph as well as it looks in person.
