MarkJ Posted September 30, 2011 Author Posted September 30, 2011 cool. with Junior driving a Dodge. Would like to see pictures of that car! I have some, some where. If not I will post the Dodge Buck Baker drove to victory in the 1964 Southern 500. It was the car Junior drove earlier in 1964 before he switched to the #27 Ford.

MarkJ Posted October 11, 2011 Author Posted October 11, 2011 cool. with Junior driving a Dodge. Would like to see pictures of that car! Funkster go to google images and plug in 1964 junior johnson dodge. A picture of his car will be shown.
MarkJ Posted November 9, 2011 Author Posted November 9, 2011 Thanks guys. Did i mention that the kit was only 10 dollars. It was a partial kit I found at a model car contest. Sometimes you can find gold from the vendors at these model car shows. They do not realize that I would have payed twice that amount to get this rare kit partial or not.
Harry P. Posted November 9, 2011 Posted November 9, 2011 A very nice model from the days when NASCAR racers were still interesting! Not like the generic "Cars of Tomorrow" they run today...
Dr. Cranky Posted November 10, 2011 Posted November 10, 2011 Those early days pit pictures are so wonderful.
Brudda Posted January 28, 2012 Posted January 28, 2012 WOW!!! Nice build, gotta love early stock cars!!!
Randytheroadrunner Posted January 30, 2012 Posted January 30, 2012 That's one of the best NASCAR builds I have seen in my 60+ years!
MarkJ Posted February 7, 2012 Author Posted February 7, 2012 That's one of the best NASCAR builds I have seen in my 60+ years! Thanks ,Randy. I really appreciate the compliment.
rmvw guy Posted April 21, 2012 Posted April 21, 2012 Nice job on a racing icon's ride! I enjoy seeing some of his other rides, thanks.
moparfarmer Posted November 1, 2017 Posted November 1, 2017 That was a car out of the shop of Ray Nichols..He was Chrysler go to man for NASCAR and USAC then..Even the Pettys got their stuff from him and re worked it to their specs..
Muncie Posted November 1, 2017 Posted November 1, 2017 Thank you for reposting the pictures - that is a great looking model, nicely done.I've picked up an interest in the Nichels cars lately - somewhere on the list of projects is something driven by Len Sutton, an Oregon driver who drove USAC stock cars for Nichels - so he was a teammate with AJ Foyt. Your Dodge is adding to that inspiration.

Your Dodge is adding to that inspiration. Thanks, Steve. I remember wanting to build this model back on July 5, 1964 when I was delivering papers, because on the front page of the Houston Chronicle there was a picture of Foyt in this car edging out, I think it was Bobby Issac, at the finish line of the 64 Firecracker 400. Back then we got no nascar news in the paper unless Foyt was involved. He was a home town hero but mostly for indy cars. Back then, building models was tough, because there was no aftermarket decals, and no computers. And I was only 13 years old so my skills were very limited. I mostly built glue bomb military aircraft that I did not even paint. just glued the pieces together and I was done.
Ace-Garageguy Posted November 1, 2017 Posted November 1, 2017 Thank you for reposting the pictures - that is a great looking model, nicely done.X2. Definitely. I followed the stock-cars back in those days...when they were still closely related to "stock", and before they'd become nothing but fast, loud rolling billboards for beer and laundry detergent.
Vietnam Vet67 Posted November 3, 2017 Posted November 3, 2017 Jeremy Clements who runs in the X-Finity series this year ran a "throwback" scheme of this car at Darlington.
