Darin Bastedo Posted September 12, 2011 Posted September 12, 2011 I'll be doing a period kustom out of the Mobius 1953 Hudson hornet, using many of the parts from the Revell 1949 Chopped Merc kit. plus some other kool parts from my stash. Here is the new bumper and grill treatmant... I won't be chopping it, as I like the look of the roof as is, but it will be de-trimmed slightly and will get frenched headlights, rounded hood corners, tunneled antenna Chrome reverse wheels, and a sweet two tone paint scheme and possibly some tuck and roll.
Foxer Posted September 12, 2011 Posted September 12, 2011 I would imagine the Revell Merc is a natural for some customizing ... nice!
Dr. Cranky Posted September 12, 2011 Posted September 12, 2011 Nice work. Wow, this is the first time in a long time that I see builders starting to plot builds when the kit hasn't come out yet. This proves the excitement in the air.
Tom Kren Posted September 12, 2011 Posted September 12, 2011 this is going to be cool!I be watching this one
Chuck Most Posted September 12, 2011 Posted September 12, 2011 Love that Revell DeSoto/Moebius Hornet combo grille treatment! Man, you could stop right there and have a really cool looking ride.
Darin Bastedo Posted September 13, 2011 Author Posted September 13, 2011 Love that Revell DeSoto/Moebius Hornet combo grille treatment! Man, you could stop right there and have a really cool looking ride. Thanks, I'm actually going with that aproach anyway. Mostly deleteing some trim here and there, and smoothing things out. I want it to still look like a hudson when I'm done.
jeffs396 Posted September 13, 2011 Posted September 13, 2011 Darin, did you get a "pre-release" kit, or is it out at some retailers???
Chuck Most Posted September 13, 2011 Posted September 13, 2011 Oh, these puppies will be widespread by the end of the month!
Darin Bastedo Posted September 13, 2011 Author Posted September 13, 2011 Darin, did you get a "pre-release" kit, or is it out at some retailers??? I got one early, in a trade with Dave Metzner. It's a regular production kit, but he got copies before the retailers. From what I understand the kits should be on shelves very soon.
charlie8575 Posted September 21, 2011 Posted September 21, 2011 The DeSoto grille actually looks pretty good on the Hudson. I just wish I had an appropriate DeSoto to put the grille on, too! Perhaps someday... I'll be keeping an eye on this one. Charlie Larkin
Dr. Cranky Posted September 21, 2011 Posted September 21, 2011 Not here yet, but I should be hearing something from MODELROUNDUP soon.
Darin Bastedo Posted September 23, 2011 Author Posted September 23, 2011 I got an advance copy, but from what i understand they are now in stock with most online retailers. I know for sure that Tome over at Spotlight Hobbies has some.
Chuck Most Posted September 23, 2011 Posted September 23, 2011 Guess who's ordered a couple of these. (Yeah, me!)
scale trucker Posted September 23, 2011 Posted September 23, 2011 sweet.....chop it section it ,and slam it on the ground...
Tony T Posted September 23, 2011 Posted September 23, 2011 Cool! I'll be watching this! Not to highjack, but to contribute to the sidebar on availability...I was able to order one from my LHS and it should arrive by the end of the month and I'm up here in Canada...(we're slower to get new kits...was also able to order the Batmobile glue kit yesterday and that should be in this week.)
Foxer Posted September 23, 2011 Posted September 23, 2011 Model Roundup just sent me a SHIPPED noticed
Darin Bastedo Posted September 25, 2011 Author Posted September 25, 2011 I've smoothed out the rear, added a ribbed bumper to match the front, and changed up the trim a bit.
