Mr. Moparman Posted September 14, 2011 Posted September 14, 2011 I am losing interest in the hobby and fast. I need to find something that sparks my intrest because I am sick of Mopars! Ford, out of the question, Chevy, maybe, foriegn cars, NO! Hmmm... final choice: Chevy. The Car? '67 Chevelle SS NOW! THE REAL QUESTION! How good is the Time Machine Resins '67 Chevelle convertible conversion kit? I am interested in purchasing it for this build I am planning that will (hopefully) bring my interest back. I am planning now to allow time for parts to arrive, etc. I probably going to build it after Christmas. Another question is how can I make this bring back my interest. You can comment, PM me, whatever! Brandon
SuperStockAndy Posted September 15, 2011 Posted September 15, 2011 LOL about the foreign car thing...I'm the same way.
BOSWELL891 Posted September 15, 2011 Posted September 15, 2011 Sometimes just taking a break for a while can bring back your intrest and spark you to start building again
Eshaver Posted September 15, 2011 Posted September 15, 2011 you could always take up resin casting..................................................... Great Comeback Dave ! As to Tim and Time Machine resins , I would say his stuff is nice . I met him in Winston Salem North Carolina and I was impressed on his appearance , ( Booth ) and the way he spoke as to me doing a job for him . Ed Shaver

Scale-Master Posted September 15, 2011 Posted September 15, 2011 Already burned out on model cars? Try needle point!
Wagoneer81 Posted September 15, 2011 Posted September 15, 2011 (edited) When I get burned out, I change Genres (Commit Heresy?). If I'm burned out on cars and trucks, I'll build a ship in 1/350 scale, or a 1/35 or 1/72 scale tank or support vehicle, or... as I've been doing lately, build a few 1/72 scale airplanes. This is a good way to keep modeling even if you don't feel like doing your normal thing. I seem to change modeling subjects every several years. I never get rid of any of the 'other' kits, I just put them away until I get burned out again. The guys at the Muncie Modelers Club accuse me of having 'Modelers ADD' because my attention is so scattered among various subjects... It's just a thought... Have a good one! Jantrix Posted September 15, 2011 Posted September 15, 2011 (edited) I find that when I losing interest in a project, I'll dive into the scrap bins and parts drawers and just start brainstorming until something clicks. It's usually followed by a lot of cutting, shaving and sanding. Sometimes it ends up like this. Other times it ends up in the trash, but I still had fun doing it, and it was only scrap anyway. crazyjim Posted September 15, 2011 Posted September 15, 2011 How can anybody lose interest in building model cars/trucks? I've been building since 1958 and am still going. The best thing to do might be to send me all your kits and tools and be done with it.
Dr. Cranky Posted September 15, 2011 Posted September 15, 2011 Yes, there you go build a rat rod or build a post apocalyptic vehicle. It's a great way to break the routine and have some great fun.

diymirage Posted September 15, 2011 Posted September 15, 2011 seems to me there are two things i can do when im about burned out the first is to get a simple kit (as mentioned) and ad zero detail to it just slam something together so that after 48 hours you can put it on the self and say "there, i finished something" another aproach is like Rob said, build something out of nothing some of those type of projects i am working on are a deora converted into a hunting camper http://www.modelcarsmag.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=38980&hl=larry&fromsearch=1 and a partsbox engine and wheels turned into a trike http://www.modelcarsmag.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=46847&hl=dodge&fromsearch=1 if that doesnt help im with Jim, send us your models...you have my adress
