Lookin fine.... I love the F1.....IMHO with the sweet rear treatment and that slammed ride, You should section the cab or chop it a bit..4-5 "

Drop the hood a tad and it will be unreal.....I've sectioned and chopped one and it should be a straight cut.....

Terry, you are aware that Ford Canada built Mercury trucks in 1950 aren't you .......... They are quite desirable these days and trim pieces aren't that easy to find either . Ed Shaver

This is a really cool looking build! It does look a lot better with the chopped top. I would leave the cab settin just like it is now and cut the front clip loose and drop it down to make the hood line back up with the cowl. Then just cut the bottom of the fenders off. Can't wait to see this thing finished!!

Neat idea, you might be able to lift the Mercury from the donor car using foil and replace the Ford above the grill.

Mercury trucks was originally an import / marketing thing, similar to Dodge / Fargo trucks.

After WW2 Ford sold trucks under the Ford and Mercury line. As Chuck said basically just a badge / trim change and the trucks came off the same production lines, only final finishing determined whether they became Fords or Mercurys. The reasons for the expanded Mercury line changed in the 60s and the Mercury truck line went away in the late 60s. All sizes of trucks were offered including medium / heavy trucks like the Ford C series.

This site gives a pretty good overview of the Mercury trucks.

Thanks for all the support.Man ,wasn't expecting all these great ideas, thanks all of you.Yes Ken my origimal thought was to run them boards all the way to the rear bumper with it tapering back,We'll see..Now the hard part...Does anyone have a donor trunk lid from the AMT Merc kit they can part with?It will give me a start on the bed lid or cover.Keep those comments coming.Aaron, thanks for the photo link.

Now thats got an attitude!!! Nice..Now look at that hood....lose the "nostrils"......a simple section on the hood will drop the front way down...

Not knowing what your Ideas on taillights...hard to call the rear, but a sheet of .020 sheet styreen rolled from the front to the rear pan would keep the smooth...but then the "pickup" bed would be lost....I think it more fits the "sled" approach filled in.

Yeah, I definitely like the tapered idea for the running boards a lot. But it would also be cool to build a second as a duallie with the fat fenders in the back andrunning boards between them too.

Thanks Chuck.More slow but steady progress.Filled in the hood and taper cut the hood down.Worked some of the front fender openings and now it needs lots of sanding to clean her up.001-2.jpg002-2.jpg004-1.jpg
