Jon Cole Posted September 26, 2011 Posted September 26, 2011 They're coming. By the thousands. Be prepared.
Dr. Cranky Posted September 26, 2011 Posted September 26, 2011 These are all beautiful. Very inspirational, indeed.
Junkman Posted September 26, 2011 Posted September 26, 2011 Like others in the minority,I plan on saving my money. This kit just doesn't fit into any of the types of builds I do. I don't build stock or NASCAR. If I want to build a custom from that era,I'll grab a '49 Mercury. For once, I guess I'm too young to have any appreciation of this subject. I seriously doubt that the people who don't buy this kit are in a small minority either. Probably closer to a 60/40 split. Before this kit came to light,I doubt if many builders knew what a '53 Hudson Hornet even looked like, much less, being on their "most requested" list. I hope Mobius does well with this kit,but I also hope they choose better subjects in the future that will lend itself to more building options. I wholeheartedly agree with you. I wish Moebius the very best with this kit. May they sell lots more than they have bargained for. Only then there will be the chance that they release something that suits our taste better.
Junkman Posted September 26, 2011 Posted September 26, 2011 You're probably hot for a '52 Humber. Make that a 1952 Opel Kapitän and I place my order now.
MachinistMark Posted September 26, 2011 Posted September 26, 2011 Stock sucks big old tailpipe. mine will be a kustom
Chuck Most Posted September 26, 2011 Posted September 26, 2011 just like '32 Fords, the Hudson surely is NOT going to be everyone's cup of tea. if you like it buy it, if you don't, buy something else. The fewer examples others buy, the more I'll buy myself.
Harry P. Posted September 26, 2011 Posted September 26, 2011 just like '32 Fords, the Hudson surely is NOT going to be everyone's cup of tea. if you like it buy it, if you don't, buy something else. Better a newly tooled kit of a car that has never been kitted before than yet another Deuce or '57 Chevy...
Junkman Posted September 26, 2011 Posted September 26, 2011 Better a newly tooled kit of a car that has never been kitted before than yet another Deuce or '57 Chevy... Very, very true. Maybe I buy one just because of that.
MachinistMark Posted September 26, 2011 Posted September 26, 2011 i would LOVE to see a modern tool, 57 rag roof.
MachinistMark Posted September 26, 2011 Posted September 26, 2011 (edited) fair enough, but the 57 chevy convertible is an iconic car (like it or not you cannot deny this) and you also cannot deny that by not likeing it you are quite decidedly in the minority of builders out there. a modern detail convertible kit would sell like the proverbial hot cakes Because like it or not, its kit sales from kits like 32 fords, 57 55 and 56 chevy's camaros mustangs and novas that provide the capital to kit up the wacky oddball stuff we crave Edited September 26, 2011 by dougie88
Chuck Most Posted September 26, 2011 Posted September 26, 2011 Agreed. As would a '57 Nomad, IMO. Those are two you've gotta figure that Revell is gonna get to eventually. I know a lot of people love that chrome-plated guppie of a car the '57 Chevy, and I say more power to them. Let me say this- I'd never buy either one, but I'd love to see Revell bring out a new-tool Nomad and drop top version of the kit, because I know there are likely thousands of potential buyers for those kits. But I'd REALLY rather see a '72 Cutlass with the formal hardtop roof kitted first.
MachinistMark Posted September 26, 2011 Posted September 26, 2011 me too chuck - i admit i have an ulterior motive for wanting the rag roof 57 - my family owns one
martinfan5 Posted September 26, 2011 Posted September 26, 2011 My plans are not to get one, I know its a very nice kit, but the I have no desire of cars that were made almost 30 years before I was born. Sure there are cars from that era that I would build, but the hudson isnt one of them. I know I will never understand the love affair with it. But from a hobby stand point, Its a long over due subject to be made into kit form.
Harry P. Posted September 26, 2011 Posted September 26, 2011 Because like it or not, its kit sales from kits like 32 fords, 57 55 and 56 chevy's camaros mustangs and novas that provide the capital to kit up the wacky oddball stuff we crave Not in Moebius' case.
Darin Bastedo Posted September 27, 2011 Posted September 27, 2011 Because like it or not, its kit sales from kits like 32 fords, 57 55 and 56 chevy's camaros mustangs and novas that provide the capital to kit up the wacky oddball stuff we crave Actually each model Revell, AMT, or even Mobius releases has to be a money maker on it's own merits. Yes 57 Chevies Camaros, Corvettes etc. are almost money in the bank, they are going to use that money on something that's going to put more money in the bank. The only way you are going to see a company like Revell or AMT shell out the bucks for an "oddball" kit, is if a similar kit is a huge success. For instance if the Mobius Hudson flies off the shelf and becomes the #1 hot seller of the year you might be able to convince Revell that say a '50 Buick could be marketed to those same people. You would not be seeing the new Revell 48 Ford Custom coming out this year if Revell hadn't sold a ton of the 49 Merc, On the flip side if all of a sudden we completely lost interest in Mustangs, and the 2010 Revell Mustng flopped, you can be certain, there would be no Mustangs for a while, not that that is likely to happen.
Craig Irwin Posted September 27, 2011 Posted September 27, 2011 BINGO ! You see 32 Fords, tri-five Chevys and 69 Camaros because........ 1 Modified reissued kits are much cheaper than all new tools. 2 They sell.
Harry P. Posted September 27, 2011 Posted September 27, 2011 i guess Harry missed this Ken Missed this? I don't think so. What I said was that sales of Deuces and '57 Chevies did not fund the release of the "oddball" kit in the case of Moebius... because Moebius doesn't sell Deuces and '57 Chevies. So now, who missed something?
Harry P. Posted September 27, 2011 Posted September 27, 2011 oh, so you did intentionally avoid Ken's comment, maybe he's on your ignore list got it now carry on ?????? Nobody is on my ignore list. How can I be a moderator if I have people on my ignore list? And besides, my comment was in regard to dougie88's comment (which I quoted and my comment was in response to), not anything Ken said. Are you guys on the same forum I'm on?
W-409 Posted September 27, 2011 Posted September 27, 2011 First I need two of them. One will be built factory stock, with some details of course, and other one will be NASCAR racer, of course. Then, bit later maybe I'll buy one more, and that would be great start for a Custom project.
Tom Setzer Posted September 27, 2011 Posted September 27, 2011 One Factory Stock, and one as A Fifties Custom. I will also Buy Two ModelKing Tim Flock NASCAR Stockers, one of these I will Build as Tommy Moon's Car That he ran on the Beach Track In Daytona. Tommy was a good friend of mine and let me use his shop on US 90/Beaver St west of Jacksonville Fla. to work on my race cars, and Hot Rods. The one of us who knew Tommy Lost a Friend that we will always miss when he passed away. CHEERS! Tom
lowriderphil Posted September 27, 2011 Posted September 27, 2011 I was feeling a nice custom, slung low, maybe two tones in some greens or blues, with these right here
Darin Bastedo Posted September 27, 2011 Posted September 27, 2011 Clearly! No one seems to pay attention to me anymore! Huh? Did somebody say something?
Foxer Posted September 27, 2011 Posted September 27, 2011 Make that a 1952 Opel Kapitän and I place my order now. So THAT'S where GM put all their unsold old cars and trucks! I WOULD buy this one too to park next to my Hudson.
